This is basically a small fun list to play to get some Orkiness in. I always liked the idea of a giant mob because Orks. I know this is the age of dakka but I'd really like to keep the mob mentality. I have plenty of other armies that are dakka orient. I had some debate for a while about wheter I should keep the warboss/painboy or switch for the Mad Dok. Also I've been using numbers from the old Ork dex and managed to adjust from a friend that has the current dex. So here's what I got:

30 'ard Boyz with Nob with PK
12 Shootas in a Trukk
12 Shoots in a Trukk
15 Lootas
10 Gretchin
Warboss with 'eavy armor, bosspole, PK, Da Lucky Stick
Painboy

998 Points

The Warboss/Painboy with the boyz to give them a nice 4+ with FNP and WS5. Shootas do shoota. Lootas do loota. Gretchin capture backfield objectives. I thought about gettin' some big gunz instead of gretchin but I really need something I can capture objectives with. I feel like da boyz will be too busy fightin dem gitz to capture objectives.

A regular mek or two just to eat a challenges could help.

If you are playing malestrom than this list is probably okOMG

I am the kinda ork that takes his own washing machine apart, puts new bearings in it, then puts it back together, and it still works.

If you run trukk boyz, run lots of trukk boyz not just two squads and a foot sloggin mob. Scrap the trukks and combine the squads so you have two big mobz or split the sloggin mob into two squads with trukks for both.

If you don't enjoy playing against people with unpainted armies, break into their house when they sleep, paint their figures for them, help yourself to their cheerios and then your problems will be solved.
Well, my opponents usually don't have more than 1-2 Wave Serpents 'cos Serpent spam is very expensive in real life money.

I can see the use of the truck boyz as objective grabbers in maelstrom if that's what you will be playing.

'Eavy armor isn't very good on big mobs. Everybody will be tryong to template them, and there's enough AP4 blasts and flamers that they'll just chew through it. Save those points, buy 20 more boys. In slogging mobs, FnP is the superior save.

Big blobs of lootas aren't good. Mob Rule essentially doesn't affect them, so they're easy to shoot away. Instead, split them into 8 and 7. That way they'll stick around longer, and you can blast away at 2 units instead of just one

I would get rid of the shootas in the trukks. Then I would take the PK off of the 30 boy squad, and put that with one of the 12 man trukk boys. remove the eavy armor, then add another PK to the other trukk. i don't think you need a nob with the big group of boys if you are putting the warboss with them. trukk boys are great with a waaagh in the second turn with a PK

Nah, you wanna keep the nob in there, if for no other reason than to eat challenges. But he prolly would be just fine with a big choppa.

I've seen a 10 man space marine squad eat through trukk boyz in CQC. And with trukks being 35 points, I'm kind of with the old "Boyz before toyz" mindset. The mob is more of a distraction really. Hawkeye kinda got it right with the shootas grabbing objectives. I thought the 4+ was nice for a big mob and with a FNP save to fall back on, I potentially have more Boyz survive.

I like the idea of splitting up the lootas. They can claim two backfield objectives now.

I can take the PK off the nob, but what would I spend the 25 points on?

Drop eavy armor on the 30 man mob, and get 20 more boyz. Then split the 30 man mob into two 15 man ones, in my past ork playing experiences this offers much more tactical flexibility; especially at 1000 points where 30 orks will be completely overkill against most units.

you are right about the Nob, my mistake. if you don't care for the trukks you could just make another 30 boy squad and get two one man units off deffkoptas to grab objectives. I still think you really should think about getting rid of the eavy armor that is 120 points that you could use to get some more dakka like a squad of bikes or mek guns or more boyz. they are just to many templat weapons that make them not worth while like BossMakk was saying.

Yes, one hellhound would have a field day against the eavy armor boyz, at least split them up imho

Aye. I have a friend who plays IG. ALL the template weapons have ap4. Urgh.

If you feel like you need a big tough unit, get them a painboy. FnP is fantastic for blobs of boys. Means things can't just s he'd right through. If am opponent wants to deny the 5+, they're gonna have to use anti-armor gear on 'em.
