Hey dakka!

Im a new player and am seeking some advice. Im really interested in Cygnar and Trollbloods! Ive already bought the cygnar battlegroup and am wondering where to go next!

Im also considering buying the trollbloods battlegroup but have no idea how they play!

If anyone could help that would be great

Trolls are definitely the opposite of Cygnar.

While Cygnar is generally fragile, but is a good combined arms faction, Trolls are tanky. Tough troops(literally!), big durable beasts, and the ability to brick like nobody's business.

However, I would strongly recommend only having one faction to start with. This is a game with a steep learning curve so its best not to overwhelm you with multiple factions.

I would pick either Cygnar or Trolls and I would purchase the recently released All-in-one boxes. You can get them for around $100 from online retailers. They each come with a fully legal 35 point army that is also a largely optimized list.

The Cygnar all in one box will also merge nicely with your existing battle box. It will get you a second warcaster and more jacks, along with some good units and solos.

Then get games in, lots of games. Preferably around the 25 point level. Pay with the same list till you've got the basic rules down. Then you can expand as you formulate your own playstyle.

We should just have a giant thread, "ask Grey Templar a question!"

Awesome GT as usual and always a pleasure to read your advice. Are you a Press Ganger? Cause you probably should be!

From my own experiences I can only add a few bits n pieces and I suppose back up if I may what GT has already said. I play Cryx and I will tell you that playing vs Cygnar is one hell of a different game vs Trolls. I actually struggle against trolls... (which I should prob ask GT about at some point) but from those games:

Trolls are Tough, and thats not just a pun, I find it hard to shift trolls from control zones, even the little ones (trolls that is, not control zones). I usually go for the Warlock kill.

Cygnar are shooty! (Read on ) I know they are combined arms but my usual opponents focus on their shooty/lightening abilities. And tbh this is easier to counter.

I guess it depends on who/what you are playing against?

Need more 's in my life!

I'm not. Don't have the time to commit to that at the moment, plus we already have an awesome Press Ganger in the area.
