Greetings all.

Against my better judgement I'm very tempted to put together some Daemonkin... Here's my first stab at a list, just using a normal CAD for now:

Chaos Lord: lightning claw; power fist; sigil of corruption; Juggernaut of Khorne 185

The jugger lords are each going with a flesh hound unit, chosen as part of the gorepack formation along with the bikers. Comments are most welcome!

Question: Am I missing something about the Gorepack? Why does everyone take it? You can just get Flesh Hounds in the standard CAD or one of the other formations? The special rules for it seem kinda meh

the gorepack allows you to take some heldrakes AND tons of fleshounds and bikers, basicly it allow you lots of extra FA slots without requiring to take the 2 extra (relatively weak) troop choice of taking 2 CAD.

to top it off it give you nice bonuses to them: it gives the bikers move through cover to automatically pass all dangerous terrain test, very important.

and give fleshounds Hammer of wrath, auto-hitting attacks which is nice and shred on the HoW attacks of the bikers.

its far from and AMAZING GAME-CHANGING formation but its better than taking them from a CAD.


As for your list, I like it, I always prefer the Magma cutters over the lasher tendrils since I find that the fiends are sortof low on attacks and 2-4 extra auto-hitting attacks basicly doubles to tripples the damage potential it has and also remedies to the relatively hard time this army might have with high armor

reducing attacks by 2 is pretty good but there are way to go arround it if you are playing against a crafty opponent.
They only affect models in base contact so the opponent just needs to have a sergeant with a powerfist behind his comrades which are the one in bases to base contact with the fiend and voila, the lasher tendrill are not removing the important attack that can actually harm the fiend.
to top it off you need to pay 10pts to lose something important for the fiend and gains something that isnt always that usefull at all.

You could turn this into a Blood Host Detachment to get the +1 BT point per turn and anything in the Slaughtercult formation to get a second result on the BT table.

Kinda tricky, had to trade Heldrake and 1 Lord for possessed, 3 spawn, and another maulerfiend but the +1 point plus bonus BT result to units in slaughtercult might be worth it

Also, dropped fiends down to magma cutters

Instead of 2 units of 10 flesh hounds do 4 units of 5.

Gives you more flexibilty, more board coverage, ability to engage more units, more potential blood tithe points AND gives your opponent more targets!

This codex is all about MSU

other than that i love your list. I run something similar and i am yet to lose a game with Daemonkin

Thanks for the comments chaps. Tbh I'm happy with the list, although may go more msu with it in the future. I'm concerned now though. Having seen the leaks of what the new eldar can bring to the table, I just don't see how KDK can even put up much of a fight :S any thoughts on that delicate matter?

My only thoughts so far are maxing out MSU hounds or maxing out helldrakes.

Then ragethirster to counter the wraithknights, with allied belakor to make it invisible so there's the slightest chance it won't get gunned down.

yeah, until the actual codex comes out I wouldnt be too worried, frankly I find that all the codex in the past while have been very well balanced (especially when considering this is GW) so I am keeping my fingers crossed and hope the the eldars will be brought back into line with this current powerlevel.

I'd probably go for 2 units of 1 Spawn. Let's face it, we're not getting first blood either way as an assault army! We may as well make the gods of Khorne happier and get another Blood Tithe point and get closer to armywide Feel no Pain!
