I'm starting this thread because as I go through my week I find my mind wandering periodically to Endless. I will get party ideas, board ideas, ideas for new terrain types, items, etc. and end up scribbling them down on little scraps of paper, or trying to record them at the end of the day with mixed memory results. This will be a way for me to consolidate and record my game ideas. I know some of these ideas will be over the top, or unworkable, but that is how a brainstorm goes. Feel free to add your own opinions or ideas.

Mud terrain/Glue Bomb - This could either be a terrain type or a persistent AOE/Trap Command. Model's moving through the effected area would have to roll MOV dice, and could only move a number of squares equal to the number of 4+ rolled. This would cause about half movement, but with variability built in.

Fire Bat Commands
- I've seen the picture for a Fire Bat in with the artwork for Gaiden. I would love to see it have a command like the Goblin Scavenger's Scurry or the Risen's Horrific Stride that lets the Bat move and give adjacent enemies Burn(1). I would like it to have some sort of Fire based attack, since the Barghest doesn't have any Fire attacks, possibly cone 2 fire.

General Fire Commands
- It would be cool to see a model with an ability like the Gel warbler's Ripple. Eternal Flame - Burn Status effect on models within 2 squares does not reduce in duration during the status phase. This could fit on an alpha/wild Barghest, or some sort of flame spirit model.

Model idea - Sylph/Fairy
- 1C - Air element - Low ATK, DEF, ITM 3 MAG, 4 MOV. Commands would be mostly support/buffing in line with Acolyte and Gel Worshipper. Command - Zephyr - MAG - RNG 3-4 pushback equal to successes, no damage. Possible Passive - Models starting adjacent to Sylph gain +1 MOV this turn. Command - Float - +1 MOV, +1 JMP {2}

I was thinking about starting a thread like this last week because I was working on this:

Blackguard/Dark Crusader

ATK 4
DEF 4
MAG 3
HP 6
MP 4
ITM 2
MOV 3
JMP 3

Shield Wall
In place of its Move or Act Phase, the Blackguard/Dark Crusader may gain +2 DEF[2] and Stop[2]. Whilst under the effects of Shield Wall, the Blackguard/Dark Crusader is immune to Flanking.

[Pass] Bodyguard - The Blackguard/Dark Crusader provides its Shield Wall bonus to one adjacent ally. The beneficial effect is applied at the same time as Shield Wall.

[Pass] Numina’s Shadow – The Blackguard/Dark Crusader has Dark Blood, +1 HP, and +1 DEF.

[Pass] Stalwart - Roll an additional defense die for each 6 you roll for Defense when attacked.

Cursed Blade – ATK, Line 3, Dark Element.

Shield Thrust – ATK, Push Back 2, Follow Through.

[1 MP] Scything Blade – ATK, Around, Dark Element.

[1MP] Unholy Shield – RNG 2, Target Gains +2 DEF[2]. Cannot Target Self.

[2 MP] Desecrate – MAG, RNG 3, AoE 1, Poison[2].

[2 MP] Wave of Shadow – MAG, Cone 3, Blind[2], Weak.
[All MP] Unholy Vengeance - ATK+MAG, RNG 2, AoE 1, Dark Element, Piercing.

I know the Dark Knight fills the traditional "Anti-Paladin" slot in most Tacticals, but I was thinking more along the lines of a fallen Crusader than a Class that starts out as the evil counter-part.

EFT Tournament Formats

I was throwing around some ideas for alternative tournament styles and here are a few I came up with.

EFT Attrition tournament
-Three round tournament
-Each player brings 16C of models and fields a party of up to 10C in each round.
-Models dead at the end of a game are not available in future rounds.
-Scenario should involve gaining Exp or victory for moving up, such as King of the Hill, or Glass Cannon.
-Used Consume and Break items do not return in later games. This helps limit resurrection items. **Each player gets a 10 point item reserve to give to characters who used their items in previous games**

EFT Who's the Boss Tournament
-shamelessly stolen from Warmachine
-Each player brings 7C of models
-At the beginning of each round of the tournament each player is dealt a random 3C character (or monster) card they must include in their force for a total of 10C party.

Galen, I may shamelessly steal that attrition format down the road, and it's not too far off from the 'standard' tournament format I've been working on the past few months. Needs playtesting though :-\

Mhm, I will probably get the document up in a rough form. I'd like to hammer this out so I can use it at GenCon.

Matt and Em are going to give it a look over, make sure I didn't miss any glaring issues and then I'll throw it up here.

Have at it

More possible EFT Attrition Thoughts

-The points sweet spot could be anywhere from 15-25C

-Limit the max duplicates of a model. Max quantity 4 of any 1C model, 2 of any 2C or 3C model. Characters of course would be 1 per player. This would make it harder for people to just have 2 duplicate 10C parties if given 20C total models.

-shorter game turn limits - Start rolling for end of game at the end of turn 5 (on a 4+ game ends.) max game length 6 turns. This should help a few more models survive.

More General Tournament Ideas

-players bring 15C of models, and choose 10C to field after each scenario is announced. This would be like a sideboard in Magic.

-Item choices must be made prior to start of tournament. Again, with the possibility of allowing a sideboard of X item value on the list to swap in between matches.

-Casual tournament - bring a 10C (or whatever value) party each round, no limits or restrictions past the book rules. Party can be different or the same round to round.

Draft Style EFT
-NOT a realistic format, without heavy proxies or communal models, but still something that sounds fun for a group of friends.

-assuming a four player format

-8 round draft to determine which models each player may use for their party. 3 rounds of 2C models, 3 rounds of 1C models, and 2 rounds of 3C models. Number of draft rounds and model costs could vary.
-Requires a complete (or nearly complete) collection of model cards, separated into piles by crystal cost. No duplicate cards in the stacks.

-Each draft round five class/monster cards are randomly pulled from a pile of the appropriate crystal cost. One player starts by picking one of the five cards to have available for their party, then passes the cards on to the next player in line until each player has a card and the final card is discarded.

-Rotate starting player each round of the draft.

-In the end each player will have 8 different model types with which to build their party. Max 2 of each model is allowed (characters max 1)

The general tournament idea is pretty much where my thoughts are headed. If anyone played malifaux back in the 1.5 days, their tournament rules in terms of party building were very good. You had to stick with the same faction/ master, but the party could be different every round.

I'm realizing that it is much harder to build a holy focused party than a dark one. I think I'm morphing my holy knights idea to be more of an ordered military group. The trouble I ran into with a holy pay is that there isn't a holy model with more than 5HP, I didn't find enough status effects for my taste, and there weren't many ways to give models holy element.

Really what this theme would come down to is a group of models that I paint to match and an organization I would build backstory for. Then i would try to

My thoughts for models to include: Crusader, Cleric, Gunsmith, Summoner, Dragoon (f), Runefencer, Adept, Squire, Lunarians, Lyra Cosine, Leir Satona.

Random gag item
Greased Boots - equip - cost 2
-1 Mov, immune to stop.

I haven't looked at Drake Dragonborn in a while. That gives me ideas, to bad Drake isn't holy element.

I was also just thinking of reskinning a rhapsodist for my military party as a drill sergeant or standard bearer. A properly converted crusader might do the trick.

...and I will find a way to use the light dragon one way or another if the model is anywhere close to the artwork

Command

Resilience - passive - remove any status effect on this model whenever it takes damage from an enemy attack

Regeneration - passive - when rolling DEF gain 1 HP for each success over the attackers successes.

I've considered trying having a 'crit' die for each player. Whenever you roll for atk/mag/def have 1 different colored die, and if that one hits a 6, It counts as a success AND you get to re-roll it once for another potential success. Probably not necessary, but just something that I felt like could be a fun house rule after I played a bunch of Arcadia Quest which has a similar mechanic

The early versions of EFT had exploding 6s like Dystopian Wars, it was quickly removed after an all Sorcerer party annihilated a balanced party before it could get across the board.

Yeah, thats why i had made it 1 die per test without repeats. just a 1/6 chance to get 1 extra success
