I hate making a post asking for people to tell me what to do, but I'm having a hard time deciding.

I currently have some DKoK troops and vehicles, along with a Vulture that I bought because I love the model.
I had planned on using them as IG counts-as (and the Vulture as a Vulture because the local store said I could) but now my local tournament store/group has opened up the door for Forge World army lists.

Now, at first I thought, awesome, I can just field DKoK and go heavy artillery with some drills added in for taking out pesky things that may outrange my artillery (Medusas & heavy mortars, we play Eternal War missions)
But then I started thinking about how much I love the Vulture model I already have and that I could field an army full of Valkyrie chassis fliers, not restricted to just 3 per FoC

I haven't played either of the lists, and we have what I would call a semi-competitive environment, so I'm not sure how either list would fare (I like to win, but I'm not overly competitive)

Can anyone give me any advice on:

Elysian Air Cav list (4-5 valks, 2 vendettas, 1 vulture) (would probably put an infantry unit with a homing beacon behind an ADL w/ comm relay for more consistent results)

vs/or

DKoK siege list with 3 medusas, 3 heavy mortars, a couple blobs and some Hades Drills?

I can tell you that with the plethora of anti-air stuff that is out, flyers just arent as powerfull as they used to be and if they come onto the board carrying units... you can usually kiss them goodbye too.
This is not as bad if all your flyers come on all at once but if your dice are like mine and enjoy feeding the flyers to the enemy one at a time, your really screwed.

I'd suggest the DKoK and maybe toss in a lil anti air to help cover yourself. Besides, the infantry models look better.
Just dont be one of THOSE guys who brag and brag about your DKoK army with only a bare min of 25 guys and the rest tanks.

Yeah, I would be running over 60 infantry at least. No tanks

Idk, I feel like a ton of av12 zooming flyers would be rough for most lists. Combat Drop allows a bunch of valkyries to deep strike turn 1, so I could drop them on their anti-air, deploy the veterans and blast them hard. Can get maybe 4 valks turn 1 by using sentries to buff the combat drop number

There is also the elysian D-99 list, its an odd list, you have like 7 member squads who can have 6 special weapons; If I were you i'd go for the army that have the more model appealing to you rather than the army list.

You can run your Elysians out of IA Voume #3 Second Edition as well and having played and still play both armies that taking multiple fliers is a pretty strong list. At 2000pts. I run:

-x5 Veteran Squads with Grenadiers and either x3 Plasma Guns and x3 Melta Guns all mounted in Valkyries with Rocket Pods
-x2 Vendettas
-x1 Vulture Gunship with Punisher Cannons
-Command Squad in one of the Vendettas with Officer of the Fleet and Long Range Ground Scanner

With this list you have x3 Valkyries come in on the first turn with the Elysians special rule (it is similar to the Drop Pod Assault rule) and with the Officer of the Fleet you can improve your reserve rolls so more of your fliers will be sure to come in. Also with the Long Range ground scanner with the Officer of the Fleet you can potentially add -2 to your opponent reserve rolls. It is a potent list as most opponents plan on dealing with at most maybe 2 fliers, not 8.

My DKOK are still be constructed but I plan on running them out of the new IA Volume #5 2nd Edition and taking as many Death Riders as possible. If you have any questions, in particular those regarding the Elysians let me know!

19th Krieg Siege Army 7500pts.
40k/HH Night Lords 5000pts.
Orks Waaaghmacht Spearhead 2500pts.

What models do you have start on the table in that list?

Your list looks almost exactly like mine except I have one less squad (1850 pts), don't run any grenadier doctrines and run all melta atm. are the mortar teams worth it?

Going to do some research on d99 and see what I think but no vendettas is meh

Has the Combat Drop rule been FAQd to round up like drop pods do? because the rule says half, nothing about rounding

If you have an odd number you round up hence why it is similar to the Drop Pod rule. To break the rest down:

-Mortar teams though fluff really are not worth it, generally any Heavy Weapon teams are not due to the fact that you are going to be disembarking from a flyer and chances are moving once you hit the ground.

-D99 you need to think of them as being "Special Forces" of the Elysian Drop Troops because they have been augmented by the Inquisition to combat Tyranids. They all have BS4, including the fliers (which makes their Vulture with Strafing Run VERY nasty) and have access to squads that can be purely made up of Plasma or Melta guns (x10 Plasma Guns deep striking anyone?). If your not concerned about the 4+ save they do not come with Carapace armor or the option to take it so its 5+ saves all around and they suffer drawbacks for the increase of BS, WS and you roll on a D3 chart to see what the drawbacks are for their modification but none of them are truly bad.

The new list in IA Volume #5 2nd Edition is really fun. I am not sure if it is actually good since I don't play tournaments. Take loads of Death riders (I field 20-25), two Hades', some heavy arty and tanks (conquerors) and several units of engineers in centaurs. Have fun while you race across the table and blast anything you pass.
