Hi, ive been out of the competitive seen for a bit due to lack of options, but now most large tournaments down here are allowing forge world as long as they have the 40k stamp. well i started browsing trying to find a way to make GKs good without using centurion star. my search has lead me to several interesting options, but i need a large transport with a 20 carrying capacity. if its a flyer i need it to be able to deep strike. the storm eagle and the ceastus assault ram seem great, but they have to be part of my GK det for it to work. any ideas out there?

not sure if GKs can use em, but if you can look into the spartan assault tank. it's basicly a land raider on crack with a 25 man troop capacity.

barring that I think the only unit that fits your criteria the GKs can use is the Thunderhawk

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

i may be able to use it actualy, it cant be taken with INQ or GKs, but i could add tygerius or whatever his name is to help out the rest of my army. ill keep it in mind, but im still looking for something a bit cheaper.

Split it in two and use drop pods? Get them from SW. What is it you're trying to achieve and what is the unit?

I want to take a 6-8 man paladin squad and with Draigo an HQ and INQ then use the INQ to scout which will give the land raider its in scout. giving me a 12 inch move then on my turn (if i go second) i can move 6 disembark and assault because the tank scouted instead of the unit. I can use the assassin to move something closer so i have a better chance of catching something important.

If i use a flyer it has to be a *grey knight* flyer that can deep strike so i can deep strike it first turn using the formation. while the squad wont be able to assault i will have a squad ready come out.

Drop Pods help for smaller squads; if you're going to build a Paladin deathstar it had better be invisible, no way it's going to last long otherwise.

You dont even need to go second, you can assault first turn in a scouting LR

BEst bet as it needs to be a dedicated transport (to gain scout) is to use a crusader, as you can fit 6 pallies, Draigo and the book bearing Inquisitor in that.

I was hoping for for something better but currently my list is usinf the LR crusader as the transport. Im still trying to figure out if i can do something about knights with this list though.

The only GK transport worth taking is the Stormraven, which is a hard counter to Imperial Knights and new stupidity of the GC WraithKnight. A Bunker with a Comms Relay is the general go to to insure turn 2 arrival.

If you are using Draigo, you should be Gating Draigo, which means starting him off on the table is actually a better start than attempting to move him in a transport turn 1. Infiltrating Scouts and turn 1 Drop Pods with Beacons will set up non-scatter waypoints to safely Gate Draigo and crew around the battlefield. Yes, you give up on fast assaults doing it this way, so you need to focus on heavy range such as Grav Cents. While invisibility is nice, Prescience is more useful, and Vortex of Doom is what the new 40k is all about.
