Hey everyone! I made a painting video of me with an Imperial Knight. Please check it out and let me know what you think.

Very good picture quality and good Sound.
But the content... I dont know.
Very very easy techniques , drybrushing an imperial knight seems to me like a waste of Money.
The techniques converted in Your Video are converted in every white dwarf and on 1000000 Sites.
A knight needs much more effort put into it and the base is Realy a let down.
In Times of ready made basing pastes from vallejo and co the Times for bright Green static gras bases( without static) is definitely over

Do not kill. Do not rape. Do not steal. These are principles which every man of every faith can embrace.

and we will send you to whatever god you wish.

Thank you for the feedback, this was my first video so I wanted to keep it simple. I'll be doing more for better detailed painting in the future!

I am not someone to criticize someone else's paintjob, but making an instructional video showing such poor technique and bad advice is detrimental to the hobbying community.

The video's title should be "how to ruin a $140 model in 140 seconds". Gluing flock with plastic glue straight on the base? Come on man!

If you are gonna do instructional videos, i suggest not make them about painting until you get down the basics. That model is faaaar from tabletop.

Sorry for the rant. But stuff like this is detrimental to the community and bugs me.

....I think you are incorrectly making tabletop standard seem a lot higher than it is...that model is definitely table top quality IMO.

Agree with comments especially regarding the base.... I would put more effort into the base, and use PVA glue for static grass!

Seems like a good video for beginner painters, not sure what these other dudes are talking about.

seems like even the crapiest paintjob will be aplauded on dakka, rahter you let your dog lick the model and leting him eat paint before or dip it in room colour.
but thats the reason i dont post my models here cause most of the times you get no serious answers.

For a beginner I think it's a good video - I agree it's basic but 90% of player have monochrome models in bare styrene or primer. I think lots of people just paint some color on so they can play as he quotes at the start of the video. Is what it is, good editing on the video though.

I hate being negative, because I applaud the effort to help. However, with GW making such great beginner videos, I don't know that we need any more. There are intermediate and advanced videos out there in abundance as well.

Maybe a tutorial on assembly? Not sure anyone does those and that is far more useful for a true beginner because some of these models are rather tricky.

And now for me to be actually negative...

That basing is a crime. Please, please don't encourage that sort of basing. It is bad enough people are just gluing down cork, but this? No. No bueno, sir.

From a production standpoint the video is great. I like the post production work. The transitions between camera's could be a bit better and need to be smoother.

To the painting part.... Well it was rough to watch. I think you will get better with time, and doing it for other people will push you into improving your skills.

I would recommend watching other videos but from a production/painting perspective. Look at what works and what they are doing. Also look at HOW they are doing it. Then ask yourself, How can I do this better or make it easier to understand for the person looking for such knowledge. Les at Awesome Paint Job does a fantastic job of this. He makes amazing models look simple and does a fantastic job of explaining what he is doing and how to recreate it. Andrew at Schauzerface Mini's is another one I would tell you to study. His production value is top notch and works well on camera.

As to the basing, others have covered that already.

Based on the comments, I really wasn't sure what to expect. I sort of expected a kid with some video skills and no knowledge of painting, though.

That's not the case here at all. This is a really well-done video that does what it sets out to do - provide a simple guide for some fast techniques for getting your models out on the table.

It's not comprehensive, it doesn't cover the way that I personally paint, but nothing in the video is bad or wrong and it doesn't claim to be more than it is.

I subscribed and I'd be interested in seeing more videos.
