Hello Guys

As usual. Another incoherent piece of info from me. I just hope it helps. I know you will get it.

Sorry for too big pics. That is why I "spoiler" hide them.

...oh. And expect a shameless plug. Totally my initiative. I have nothing from it.

What you will need is:

Bit of aluminum mesh(ebay):

Spoiler:

Portion of watchmaker scrap (ebay):

Spoiler:

UHU Glue, Superglue and PVA:

Spoiler:

Grated cork. Yes. Grated cork:

Spoiler:

And: Hexagon pieces:

Spoiler:

My portion was cut here: http://www.wargame-model-mods.co.uk/
Guys are pros. They advice, they cut, they accept payment and they deliver. Nothing more nothing less.

Mixing all of these ingredients will get you there:

Spoiler:

Receipt:

1. Cut the mesh. Roughly the size of base.
2. Take Hexes and glue them through mesh to base. UHU is your friend now. Wait until it dries.
3. Add some watchmaker scrap in places you want. Superglue helps.
4. Now, this is the time for some dirt. Place few patches of PVA and sprinkle them with grated ork. Cork.
5. Prime.
6. You, now have, half done product. Rest depends on your creativity.

Cheers!

/you can post it wherever you want. No R or TM on this. Share.
/Cheers again.

I never knew you could just buy bucketloads of watch parts, this is interesting.

Now that is cool.

It would be good if you could upload some smaller pictures as it's hard to truly appreciate at that size.

FWIW, on closer inspection to the hexagon pieces, that looks to be the carbon soot left by a laser cutter. If you have one of those lying around, or access to one of them (if you're an engineer with access to a machine shop) it wouldn't be too hard to get your own sheet of acrylic or plywood and cut your own!

...or you can get one of these:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fiskars-159070-1001-Squeeze-Punch-Medium-Hexagon/dp/B00E3FSIQQ

...and work through your GW boxes like that:

These are slightly thinner but effect is still ok. You could probably glue one on top of another to achieve better definition on spaces.

/Mine cuts 1 inch hexagons. Peak to peak.

Cheers

That's awesome! Does it work on thin plasticard too?

Not really. That plasticard is 0.20.

But it works on transparent binding covers (...or acetate, as some call it )

Cheers.
