SO.... My current game group ( VC, OGK, DE, OG, WOC) has decided to move from fun janky lists to tournament level legions. I have tried to use my "fun/fluffy" lists against them but i do not have the same power. I will make this clear. -I want to wipe the field with them-. We currently have 0 comp and any list with any combo goes (as long as you follow BRB, ie. 25%lords) .

SO , all in all. I wish to create the most potent and cheesy skaven list I can. Suffer no stops I don't care for fairness or fun as I need to show my group that winning isn't what warhammer is about. I need a trump card to break the tourney list meta.

My current build looks like this-

2500 pts

LORDS-310

Grey Seer-310- (army general)
talisman of pres-
Dispell Sc.

Heroes-454

Plague Priest-284-
Shadow magnet Trinket
Flail
Plague Furnace

Cheiftain- 125-
Enchanted Shield
Storm banner
BSB

Warlock Engineer-45-
Doom Rocket

CORE-644

Clanrats x35-- 234.5

Plague Monks x 35 - 300
full command
Plague banner

x2 groups of x6 gutter runners with poison and slings

RARE-565

This is my current list I am using against the others. It performs well, but I think I can get Nastier.

I'm curious as to what kind of lists they play. If you want to play dirty and they like to bring expensive infantry, get a power scroll on this guy. Cast dreaded 13th on a 13+.

Pretty standard really.

Get rid of one of the groups of clanrats and pick up more slaves. Whatever a clanrat can do, a slave can do as well and for cheaper. Nothing is dirtier than 200 slaves with LD 10 rerolling. Try to fit some rat darts in this list as well (5 giant rats + packmaster) as it gives you more deployment stalling and chaaf.

Special-498

Plague Monks x 35 - 300

Plague banner

x2 groups of x6 gutter runners with poison and slings

Pretty standard

RARE-565

Pretty much the best you can do unless you have stormfiends. Or a cannon and dual hell pits I suppose.

This is my current list I am using against the others. It performs well, but I think I can get Nastier.

The problem is that Skaven don't have much when their toys are gone.. After that, you're just throwing STR 3, T3 bodies at people until you lose.

ANY AND ALL HELP IS WELCOME, spare no niceness, I want a solid stomping list.

Play cautiously. Skaven aren't WoC when it comes to charging up the field and slaughtering (almost everything). Shoot/cast magic as often as you can, tarpit units with slaves (and shoot into those combats), and protect your bunker and your cannons as best as you can. Once you lose your general/BSB, it's game over for you.

THANKS, i have now moved the slave units to 50 a piece, and moved the 2nd clan rat unit to 50 slaves. I also added one rat dart. Not suer where to go from there, but i will playtest a bit.

I am also trying to fit a condenser lock to spam wlighting.

Hmm.. If you need to take some slaves away from one unit to add in more rat darts, I would do it; They are really annoying for your opponent as they either:
1) Chaaf
2) Hunt Warmachines
3) Kill defenseless characters in the front rank (If your opponent is ignorant of this fact)
4) Bait charges where you would (obviously) flee

Your opponent has to deal with them somehow, which means they can take magic missles in the magic phase or shots in the shooting phase.

Other than that, good luck! Skaven are one of my main armies, but I still find it difficult to even compete in an un-comped environment.. especially against Elves and WoC.. Unless I get amazing cannon shots of course.

Well that's a pretty standard skaven list to me. At 2500 points I find the lists get pretty bland after a while but I mean if you haven't played this type of list before then it will be a nice change.

I like the idea of bringing a furnace that is one of my favourite units. Just watch out since it will probably get shot quickly so that's where you want to have lots of things on the field to draw fire I.e doomwheels and hellpits.

You might want to consider bringing a warlord on a warlitter (with a few toys) great general choice in my opinion.

Your core is something I would change. I disagree with the person who said slaves do everything clanrats do just as well but cheaper. They aren't as good.
I would drop those weapon teams first and then try and bring 40 stormvermin. 2 units of 50 slaves and then a unit of 30 clanrats as your bunker.
Then put the warlord on warlitter in the stormvermin and I'll be a pretty powerful unit but it won't compete with other "elite" units.

Your rates look fine and same with your special units. I might consider leaving the cannons at home and bringing an extra doomwheel. Dual hellpits with something else is fun too.
I haven't picked up the stormfiends yet so can't comment on how they play.

The only thing clanrats can do that slaves cannot is push the screaming bell. Clanrats and skavenslaves pretty much have the same role (excluding using clanrats as a bunker), and that role is to die and tarpit.
For the same point-cost as one of those clanrat blocks of 35, he can get almost 120 slaves, 110ish with musicians. Skavenslaves may not have the fighting capabilities as other infantry, but neither do clanrats. If you're looking for good infantry with fighting capabilities, you're playing the wrong army, my friend. The only thing we really have that can compete with other units in combat are the hell pit and the plague furnace.. Which if your plague furnace doesn't get shot down before it gets into combat, you either have (a) good target saturation or (b) a clueless opponent. Our lack of armor and high strength is our downfall (there's a reason skaven are hated for losing every combat and still being steadfast LD 10 rerolling).

I can understand bringing a small group of clanrats just to get the weapon team, but then there's no point in giving that unit extra bodies, shields or command groups (especially a champion); you're better off putting the points into slaves. Skaven need their slave tarpits to hold up huge threats and to shoot them down. If you're not doing that, you're not taking advantage of one of the few advantages we have over other armies.

If you want to go with complete cheese, bring 150-200 slaves, dual cannons, and stormfiends. Make your opponents hate you.

Hey, thanks for all the replies!

I have bought 6 storm fiends and more slaves.

Models are not a problem as i can go get more. I am still searching for the cheesiest combo i can make.

I am not using storm fiends because our group has not decided to move to end times yet. so i am facing and using pre-end times units and rules.

My current list is similar to the original but has changed the clan rats to slaves and some other slight fixes.

Okay well don't change all the clanrats to slaves. I'd keep a unit of 30-40 clanrats as a bunker unit for some of your characters because they WILL last longer in combat than slaves just by a bit

For your rates you could try double hellpits with a cannon or one hellpit and double doomwheels (this is what I tend to use)

Big unit of stormvermin (60) is always fun too

The BSB is illegal. I'd drop both items and give him the Armor of Destiny and a halberd.

Then get some Stormvermin, and give them the Stormbanner. They'll actually be able to do a little fighting for you, and it's better to keep your BSB alive than to have the Stormbanner on him.

If you're using Clanrats, give them shields:
1 in 6 Parries save.
6 shields costs 3pts.
1 Clanrat costs 4pts.

Always worth it.

A Rat Dart is 5 Giant Rats and the Packmaster. You need more. NEED. Run between 4 and 6, I'd say.

More Gutter Runners. Units of 9 would be ideal.

As many Warp Lightning Cannons as you can fit in.

Weapon Teams are...not great at killing stuff. Unreliable, expensive, and fragile in the extreme. Drop these for more Rares.
