Ugh. I finally kicked my painting funk I've been in for several months lately and finished my pirate squadron for X-Wing. I first started these back before Scum And Villainy, so they are instead a mix of eclectic Rebel and Imp ships, mostly scavenged from battlefields post-Endor in the New Republic era (explaining the Advanced).

My buddy has all the stock ships for (then) both factions, so I wanted something different, so I started around a core made from the basic starter and a TIE Advanced that made up my first foray into X-Wing when it first came out, and an additional X-wing. I ripped the TIES and X-wings apart to make a pair of X-TIE Uglies and my best approximation of a pair of Twi'Lek Deathseeds from Rogue Squadron. Eventually a Y-Wing and a Hwk rounded out the force, though I plan on at least another Y-Wing for additional muscle. Only the HWK is an original paintjob, because I can't seem to settle on a good one.

The Squadron

My Pirate Leader and a pair of Deathseeds, flown as Interceptors, one is a Royal Guard, and the other is painted with grey and crimson for Fel and the others. I painted the Advanced nice and flamboyant for a Captain who took for himself the best they have scavenged so far.

My Uglies are counts-as Z-95's, with an official model repainted. Sorry Newbies- you get to fly Uglies to prove yourselves worthy!

Soon will be a repainted ERTL Falcon model kit that I had floating around for more than two decades that is about 95% scale with the real one. I already want another Y-Wing, so I may even shell out for the actual Scum And Villainy set for the two additional Z-95's as well, for plenty of ships for any Epic games.

I'm not as familiar with the alternate designs, but I love the look of the tie fighter bodies with x-wing wings.

I love them. Do you have all the cards and what not to play them?

How do. You post pictures in a reply. I've got a mercenary fleet as well I'd like to show you if I can

I have all the cards I need (those that didn't come with the original ships, anyway) as downloads from the X-Wing wiki page, printed out to appropriate size and sleeved. I just scanned ship plates for the Interceptors from my buddy's models, and for the X-TIEs fom the official Z-95 they flank.

I have changed my plans for a squadron expansion to another Y-Wing, and for some crazy fun I plan on "pirate-ing" up a Lambda shuttle to use as a target designator for Epic games. That way I hope to counter my bud's CR90 with the Lambda's unlimited range target locks, shunted to the missile/torpedo ships flying in formation with it so they only have to risk one run into it's turbolaser range to fire at it.

I don't care for Uglies but you have made these ramshackle space planes look pretty sweet.

Finally got my Yt-1300 finished for my squadron. It's an old ERTL model that came as part of a Hoth Rebel Base diorama, and is about 95% the scale of the FFG one. Now I probably need to go out and grab one of the Attack Wing extra base packs, so it can hit the table as some added muscle for my pirates.

I used the stock HWK and a Falcon repaint I found online for inspiration. I didn't just want it to be a version of the Krayt Fang from the roleplaying game. The old model has some pretty crappy detail in spots, so I added a lot. The sensor dish is from 40K as the old one was broken and lost years ago, and the launcher tubes between the mandibles are a pair of plasma pistol barrel-ends, with some added detail around them.

Obviously one of these days I need to get to using my wife's good camera, as my tablet is understandably lacking for macro photos, so a lot of the layers in the brown are lost.

This is what I was going for. Pretty simple other than I could not make a good representation of the gyroscopic ring around the TIE ball.:

Your uglies are sweet looking, great job. Also will you be using imperial, rebel, or scum rules to fly these. Really like the Tie eyeball with x-wing wings makes be want to try that.

These predate S&V and I am just now getting them painted. I fly them as a mix of Imperials and Rebels. Obviously they are just for fun games.

Just went to the comic store and came home with a Lambda. Not only did I already have plans to add this to my fleet, but my 4 month old son basically made my choice between my waffling about whether to get another Y-Wing and the shuttle. I put both of them in front of him in turn, and after being completely passive about the Y-Wing, he grabbed the shuttle box with both hands. My wife shrugged said the decision had obviously been made.

Spent the night repainting it, trying to balance the white stock paintjob with added details to make it look a little more worn in: oil streaks on the panels of the tail-fin, some chipped battle damage on the tail and wings, and a lick of red for color and gunmetal on different parts like the side intakes and the wing joints, and a Tau decal to the tail.
