So I just took the plunge and ordered the Urban Combat 2 6x4 F.A.T. Mat from Frontline Gaming. I know that many on Dakka have used some of these and I was hoping you could let me know what I'm in store for! They are rather expensive, so I'm wondering how best to take care of it, any particular maintenance beyond keeping it stored in its bag when not in use? If its rolled up in the bag for extended periods of time, do the ends curl up? How is the quality overall (print color, durability, etc)? How fast is the shipping from Frontline?

I'm actually very stoked about it and can't wait to get my first game in on the new mat, but I want to make sure my investment lasts a good long time.

I got my fat mat in January this year, from their UK supplier (edit - I'm in the UK, despite what the little flag on my profile says!).

It has only been out of the bag twice, and each time it has unrolled perfectly flat.

I've yet to spill anything on it (oh Gods, the horror).

Quality overall is excellent. It's a hefty bit of kit, and just feels very well made. I honestly think it makes playing more fun - and not having your dice clattering around, making an awful din, is a terrific bonus!

You have made a good purchase!

I don't keep mine in the bag anymore. The handle/tie ripped early on. But, the mat itself is great.

Good to hear that the mat will lay flat after being rolled up, and that its got some heft to it! Thanks for the details

Update....well this just stinks. Not only did Frontline Gaming sit on my order for a week, but the UPS notification shows they sent it not just to the wrong state (in the US), but to the wrong side of the country even! I'm in Tennessee, they sent it to Oregon.

I was hoping to have it today (per the UPS notification) but now it will likely be another 2-3 weeks.

Just got off the phone with Frontline Gaming. Whoever they shipped it to in Oregon signed for it, so they got themselves a free F.A.T. Mat (you're welcome whoever you are). A new one will be shipped next week. Hopefully they get the address right this time.

Sorry to hear your mat was sent to the incorrect address. I gotta wonder what was going through the recipient's thoughts when they unfurled what looks like a GIANT mouse pad from the shipping box. That would have been a fun moment to witness, especially since odds are they aren't a table top war gamer and would have no idea what a F.A.T. Mat is.

Well, I found out that the address belongs to one of their customers (which is how the shipping address got swapped), so I have a feeling he knew what he had and was only too happy to keep it. My mat will arrive next Tuesday (verified that UPS has the right address this time).
