Nice looks like GW/Wyrd plastics which are a higher quality than the current PP plastic.

It'll be a process like anything. They need to sell off existing stock, make new molds & produce new stock but it's definitely a great move.

Does look like a major improvement for modelers, but is it just me or do the details seem a bit less crisp? I could be wrong.
I don't play WM, but I've got a soft spot for the old metal models as I have 4 of them in a unit 6 (some converted) Khador Jacks used as "Lesser Obsidian Golems" in my KoW army. Though I own 2 and they do look nice, I still have no love for the restic Jacks.

I do have some news from someone who was at LnL.
Supposedly the new Colossals are all going to be HIPS, and they're going to be 2in1 kits. They'll make both Colossals for their respective factions. The Gargantuans will still be metal/resin hybrids because they're organic.

While I would agree that PP is in no rush to convert older models, no such statement to my knowledge was ever made about organic models. PVC is a generic term that pretty much describes ALL plastic, not just the lack luster type that PP has been using.
Consider this as well: There are a ton of warjacks that share the same chasis. The Stormclad is a very, very old model, while Reliant came out in the last book. Combining the two gives us a "new" old warjack and a "new" new warjack.
We have already seen this in some warbeasts, namely the Warpwolf/Alpha/Stalker. Yeah, they used a "lower quality" plastic, but as a company that wants to get rid of overseas manufacturing and the shipping issues that arises with it, they will have to replace these older plastic kits with the newer plastic.
I bet the wait will not be as long as you think.
Someone made a comment about Malifaux plastics- yeah, and it took them how many years to get to this point? They started out as white metal being spun in a guys garage in Seattle, and now they are being made overseas with the best Chinese manufacturing available. /shrug

PVC(polyvinyl chloride) is one of many types of plastic, and is third widest produced after polyethylene and polypropylene. It is not a generic term that describes every type of plastic. As well, both my statements are paraphrases of statements made by PP from the main boards last year when the HIPs releases were first announced. They themselves said that the switch over for existing kits isn't coming any time soon.

They definitely said that the HIPS for now will be reserved for mechanical stuff and organic things will be PVC. I don't remember word for word but I remember seeing the original comment. And as someone's already said, PVC is Polyvinyl Chloride, it's not a catch all term for all plastic. It specifically is the lacklustre plastic PP have been using. High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS) is the plastic GW and Wyrd use, that PP is starting to use also. They're different materials.

Yes!! Do want! Sprue attachments might be a bit on the thick side, but it's like PP hand cleaning your kits in comparison to their last attempt at the casting plastic.

I actually got to check her out and hold the (nearly) completed model.
It does seem to be a different resin/plastic that I have not seen in PP models before. It seemed a much higher quality to me, but I am by no means a plastic/resin expert. I didn't poke at her too much because the PP guy was kind of hesitant to let me touch her in the first place even though I told him if I broke her I would buy her. Also super lightweight. I expected her to be heavier even in resin/plastic.
Anyways, here's a pic. You can probably tell better from it.

PP's metal/resin hybrid kits are made out of actual resin, not the weird restic stuff their normal "plastic" stuff is made of. Its pretty lightweight but it holds detail nicely.

I'll put myself down as cautiously optimistic. While they're at least making them out of the correct material it seems, PPs plastics have but nothing but entirely garbage for as long as they've been around. I have 0 confidence in PP at this point from a plastics production and QC standpoint. Still it's fresh and the pictures look good, hopefully it works out.

In technical terms Styrene and resin are both types of plastic, though most modellers and gamers agree the 2 materials have enough differances to be called differant names to each other.

Beg pardon about saying PVC is a generic term for all plastic. I didn't know there were so many chemists on these boards!
I'd like to know who exactly and when did an official rep from Privateer Press say the new colossals are going to be HIPS.
That picture of Denny 3's mount is a prototype and NOT the actual material the final model will be made out of. Three staffers at Privateer Press all confirmed that at Lock and Load. Each was VERY specific about that. They also said they have not yet decided on what kind of plastic they are going to be using, and will not release any of the newer kits until they have decided which plastic to use.
The Denny 3 in the display case and the one Ed Bournelle was playing with were prototypes of different materials.
I think we can all agree that any plastic PP switches to will be better then the stuff they have used so far. I'm looking forward to seeing future models in plastic! It's quite exciting and opens up modeling options that PP may not have been able to achieve before.

It could be. I was more interested in how it looked and the details than the material. Though my brother and I both remarked on how light it was. Neither of us thought to ask if the material was something special or new.
I also did not get to hold or check out closely the painted one or Ed's.

I got to "play" with Ed's version. I was surprised by how light it was and asked is it plastic? He said no, it's a prototype, and that they were still working on the plastic. He demonstrated to me that he made the wings magnetic. I made a comment about how beautiful those wings were, and that Terminus would like those wing. Ed smiled and said he already had a spare pair of wings.
The "white" one upstairs in the paint and take was another different type of material from Ed's. I chatted with Doug Hamilton about it for a bit (he sculpted her).
While playing Jason Soles in our annual "Tamwulf vs. Jason @ Lock and Load", I talked about Denny3, and how much I liked the sculpt, and that the new material feels great. Jason said they are still working on it, and that Denny3 or any of the new stuff won't be released until they are satisfied with the new plastic.
As a side note, for those that got Haley3, most of the models are in plastic. I suspect this is NOT the final plastic they will use on her, as they did not have any blisters of her, and the blister in the Special Box was not specific to Privateer (as in, mine had no backing, only the model, foam, and cards in a clampack).

The Haley model, it's mostly resin, not plastic, surely? (I know technically resin is plastic but they're basically different materials for Wargaming purposes). PP models are either metal, metal and resin, or plastic. Why do you suspect it's not the final material? They wouldn't have made her in PVC so it has to be resin, and therefore it's the final material. I doubt they'd use a different material just to get her out early.

Pretty likely it's the final material. They don't actually release models to the public in unfinished form.
