This will be a short P and M blog detailing my current project, an 11-man Araby warband.

HEROES 310

Shiekh 105gc (Halberd 15gc, Handgun 25gc, Heavy Armour 15gc)

Slave Master 55gc (Great Club 15gc, Bow 5gc, Net 5gc)

Vizier 30gc

Vizier 30gc

Djinn 45gc

Djinn 45gc

HENCHMEN 245

Naffatun 35gc (Bow 5gc, Naphtha Bombs 10gc)

Naffatun 35gc (Bow 5gc, Naphtha Bombs 10gc)

Naffatun 25gc (Bow 5gc)

Mamluke 60gc (Shield 5gc, Bow 5gc, Flail 10gc)

Desert Nomad 35gc (Bow 5gc, Axe 5gc)

Some initial thoughts: Araby is not the Emipre: These are some bad dudes, being either slavers or the enslaved. Even the Djinn are enslaved by the viziers.

First up, the naffatuns which are essentially slave archers:

I went with an ungor torso and arms. I had to shave the molded fur covering the back and shouders and remove a bit of the hump in the back. I used some really crappy finecast wrack legs that I kept after having the kit replaced. The original kits were awful, but mostly in the torso/arms/weapons I discarded. Yay for turning garbage into gold. I used chaos maruader heads because they look the part and are cheap and plentiful. I added detailing like quivers and also each has an arab looking scimitar shaped dagger and pouch on the waist sash. I believe this came from the skeleton warriors kit. Please let me know your thoughts and stay tuned for updates. Djinn is next.

Looking great so far, tho I would add some more sculpting about the shoulders and heads. Head wraps and shawls for sun protection in Araby would double as protection from the ash and soot in Mordhiem.

Also you might want some variation in heads, maybe elves if you have them? File down the ears and you can have some diversity. You may also want to look into having maybe a few women within the party? Wyches from 40k could easily be spliced into some pretty mean slavers from Araby

This looks like quite a fun project. You've got a good eye for bits selection. The two archers with topknots do look a little bit too similar, though.

Interesting stuff, good to see something different. I think the proportions on the archers are a tiny bit off, either the torsos are a bit too long or, more likely, the heads are too big. I think those particular heads are pretty gigantic

Great comments, guys. Thanks.

@Tundrafrog--I was thinking to make the models more detailed according to their station. These guys are chaff, so they are semi naked. The nomad will have a turban and/cloak, mamluke heavy robes/armor turban, slave master will be fully robed, etc.

@youidiotkid--thanks, I really enjoy selecting bits for projects. I have gotten good at it after all these years! Wait for the djinn!

@bruticus--heads have been a challenge, I may have to sculpt or go third party. The porportions are a bit off. I have minimized it to a large degree. From 2-3 feet away you really can't tell.

Can you provide a link to the Araby rules you're using? I may try this with some lotr Harad models. I've always liked em and this will give me an excuse to use em
