So just looking into Warmahordes. I am wanting to play a decent skimish game (thinking around 50 points)

I WANT to use an orboros army of only wolves or wolf hybrids. Since i need a warlock Kromac is the closest. So can I take him and then just take the rest in what i want? none of the special list allow for all wolf army. (concept similar to confrontation wolfen)

Suggestions?

It's doable.
Kromac, warpwolves, pure blood warpwolves, warpwolf stalkers, ghetorix as war beasts. And then you've got skinwalkers, wolf riders, morraig and war wolves as infantry and solos. It's got game, but It misses out on utility and shenanigans though... Such is the nature of skew though.

By the way, start small and build up. Jumping in at the deep end (ie straight in at 50pts) means more likely than not that you'll end up drowning. There are a lot of moving parts; it has a massively steep learning curve. starting small and building up is the sensible approach.

Kromac isn't a wolf, he is a Tharn. IMHO, the best Warlock to run a wolf theme is epic Morvahna. I would do something like this:

Morvahna 2 -5
Gorax +4
Warpwolf Stalker +10
Warpwolf Stalker +10
Shifting Stones +2
Shifting Stones +2
Stone Keeper +1
Reeves of Orboros (min) +6
War Wolf +1
War Wolf +1
War Wolf +1
Warpborn Skinwalkers (max) +8
Warpborn Alpha UA +3
Blackclad Wayfarer +2
Blackclad Wayfarer +2
Gallows Grove +1
Gallows Grove +1

Yes but she looks human. I want to keep all models wolfy.... Kromac while not wolfy is at least hybrid looking. I wanted to avoid using any Human looking models.

no worries i only do drowning and we are starting with all new players so all of us will be on the same curve

what i was thinking so far model wise
Kromac
Warpborn skinwalkers
Warpborn Alpha
War Wolf
Argus / Winter Argus
Argus moonhound
Feral Warpwolf
Pureblood Warpwolf
Warpwolf stalker

That gives me all the Wolves... maybe add the engine or stones and of course mutiples of a couple of the above. As long as something like this is "playable" i am happy enough to give it a go

You're gonna have to take the Shifting Stones naturally. Circle really relies on their abilities.

Yeah, the usual is 2 units of stones, one with the Stonekeeper unit attachment.

The list of models that you have is too beast heavy for your caster. You're going to need some infantry besides your skinwalkers. The only other non beast wolf that circle has at present is a war wolf. May I suggest some Wolves of Orboros? They are humans who wear wolf capes. They have a special character Morraig who hits like a train when the others threaten your target.

Indeed. Kromac can handle 3, maybe 4, heavy beasts. Along with a Gorax. Thats if he has some help from a Druid Wilder. Maybe he can get away with it if you heavily use the Shifting Stone's other notable ability to take off fury.

And for goodness sake do NOT use Argus. They suck, except for the Moonhound who is only worth it if you take some shooting elements. Regular and Winter Argus are so bad they've become a bad joke.

That was my idea with the stone. maybe even take 3 sets to do just that?

I like the Argus look though. I am a perpetual sucker for what i like regardless of its quality. hehe i try to make them work just so i can have them,

hmmm maybe i could take another warlock and use a an alternate werewolf model as counts as?

So it looks like i could do this easier with Kaya MoonHunter and even use her Tier 4 assuming i took the druids. Maybe use some type of wolfman models for the druids as well.

Stones are FA2, so you can only have 2 units in a normal game. Thats why it was such a big deal when Bradigus's tier allowed 3(till they made it so you can't teleport more than once).

And please please don't try to make Argii work. it will lead to nothing but tears.

Also, using alternate models isn't a good idea. This game has a lot of miniatures with a lot of rules, so using a Counts-as model can cause major confusion with your opponent. You don't want to win because your opponent thought that one model was something else. conversions are ok, as long as its still obviously whatever its supposed to be.

So you could have eKaya with a head swap for a wolf head to make her look like a wolf person, but having another company's miniature might not be ok as your opponent might not know what it is at glance.

So yeah, give your druids wolf heads. It'll be cool, just don't use entirely new miniatures as it will lead to confusion with your opponents. and likely disqualify you from participating in competitive events.

Basically the best way is to ensure that anyone could identify what the miniature is at a glance. As always, you can ask your TO if a miniature is acceptable as they have free reign to greenlight stuff.

yeah we play very open games so none of that is an issue for us. none of my group does competitive stuff either. Maybe i could use the Winter Argus as Kaya! and make the druids out of Argii so i get to use the models i want without using the actual argii

The base sizes don't match. If nothing else make sure that your substitute has the same base size as the original. The game measures most thing from a point on your base to whereever. So having a bigger or smaller size base effects that measurement.

right of course ... im not new to gaming just this game

i just dont like the Kaya model looks. I.e. i dont want to paint it, so i need to find something else. i really like the wolf units and models which is why i was trying to make the army the way I did. I guess i can just use Kromac and try it

Do some converting and make some of the other units into wolves.

This is my advice as well. Making fur from greenstuff isn't too hard.

limiting yourself to just wolves will likely result in a poor game experience. I'd at least learn the game with a basic list then you can decide if an all wolf list will work for you or not.
