Hi everyone,
i have recently started a new space marine chapter of my own creation, but i haven't decided a name yet. At the moment it is a fairly small force, but i have decided that it will be a successor chapter of the crimson fists. here's a picture of the colour scheme also, mainly grey (administratum grey) and red details (mephiston red). Thanks!

Are you looking for feedback? Looks good. I have something similar wih blue and grey for mine space marines. The knee crashes a bit I think. White red and blue is remniscient of so many national flags to me. Perhaps yellow or gold would fit?

thanks for your feedback!
The blue kneepad is just for the squad markings really, so it changes colour for each squad. also the main armour colour is a light grey (although it does look white in the picture)

Thanks for replying,
personally i tend to stay away from name generators as it usually contains "clichéd" names that lots of chapter use parts of (eg angels, scars or a coloured animal), although some of them sound pretty good. Thanks for your help!

As far as I know there are only First Founding successors. Crimson Fists are Second Founding.
As for the name, tell us something about the chapter! History, important battles and leaders, etc.
Many chapters only get their name after proving themselves in battle.

The Deathwatch RPG book "Rites of Battle" from FFG has nice tables for generating your name.

The Chapter Creator on 1d4chan is pretty fun, I've created tons of Chapters which I'll never collect, but exist for fun!
Such as:
Death Angels
Ultramarines successors on a Tyranid hunting Crusade. Works closely with the Ordo Xenos to perform suicide missions against the Nids.

Emperor's Seraphs
Blood Angels successors who are basically Kreigsmen in power armour: no tactics other than charge! No devastators or scouts, just scavenged power armour and chainswords for all!

Silent Talons
Completely deaf Ultramarine successors who modify their equipment and use archeotech silencing fields to be utterly silent during their sieges, and favour grav-weapons for the vibrations they cause.

Iron Vipers
Imperial Fists descended Chapter which uses poisoned equipment from the jungle homeworld and specialises in Drop Pod assaults.

Vigilant Shields
Imperial Fists successors who favour shock and awe tactics in void combat, favour shields due to their boarding actions. Entirely fleet-bound and claims home to an Ork Rok they liberated in their first action as a Chapter.

Thanks for your feedback,
the crimson fists do have successor chapters, such as the crimson guard and celestial guard. As for a rough chapter history, during the crusade of righteous liberation, when the crimson fists fought the orks (and were nearly wiped out, if i remember correctly), veteran sergeant bethor, his 10 man squad as well as a chaplain, and 3 other tactical squads were separated from the main battleforce during a warp jump. They ended up near a planet called Greyskull, a volcanic but inhabitable world. They landed there and started fixing warp drive. They found a primitive tribe of people who they recruited some to become SM. Eventually fixed ship and set off with Bethor as their leader. With the crimson fists' and obviously the high lords of terra's permission, they formed a new chapter (before the fists were nearly wiped out) adoptinvg Greyskull as their homeworld.
I also had a look at deathwatch rites of battle and decided they are a death cult chapter who have a hatred for the orks. I also thought that a distant rule on Greyskull would be fitting (less contact with tribes/ people there).
So, what do you think the name could be?

Not sure about the steel part, it reminds me more of silver SM. Maybe grey or red or crimson?

Well they were lost after the Righteous Liberation campaign.
They brought in tribal warriors to their ranks.
Grey and Skull are in the name of the planet.

But maybe there is something to the Tribal community that they adopted as part of their chapter doctrines. Because to become your own chapter, you have to separate yourself from the original chapter.
So why would these 40 marines (was it 40?) think that they were worthy of their chapter and worthy of abandoning the Cirmson Fists? Because now it sounds like the majority of this chapter would be members of Greyskull, the tribal people, how would their culture come across in the chapter's day to day.

Would these tribal people have a hatred for Orks? have they ever seen Orks? Or is the hatred for Orks just something that was taught to them by the founding members?
So you could either go with a tribal name or just go with something from the name of the planet and the crusade which caused their separation. Does the tribe have any major features or names? Any animal they worship? Were they native american tribal, barbarian tribal, south american tribal, african tribal?

Without knowing those features my suggestions would be as follows

Grey Skulls
Grey Liberators
Righteous Sons
Fists of Liberation
Crimson Skulls
Crimson Liberators

Angels Redundant- a chapter of space marines currently inhabiting a fortress on the ass end of Baal. They are not associated with the Blood Angels by any means and arent even aware they operate on the other side of the planet.

Includes such characters as Venerated Lord Dreadnought Coughman who was a duty filled individual who thought he was signing up for college money and found out there was no end of duty. So he hating his life tried to gloriously end it rather than just off himself. His glorious charge saved the day and caused a great victory. They stuck him in a Dreadnought for his sacrifice. He always manages to gloriously get blown to pieces and then rebuilt. He has go so far as to have bull's eyes painted on the weak spots on his dreadnought frame. Everyone else thinks he is just humble but is trying to inspire his fellows in battle.

Infantrymen do not die, they go to heaven and regroup.

Just a couple thoughts:
1) They seem to have a quite similar color scheme to the White Scars.
2) They're on a planet called Greyskull? I have to say that of all the things I'd expected to see referenced in a custom Space Marine Chapter, He-Man wasn't one of them.
As for names, not terribly good but how about the Crimson Avengers?

Don't believe me? It's all in the numbers.
Number 1: That's terror.
Number 2: That's terror.
Dark Angels/Angels of Vengeance combo - ???? - Input wanted!

with grey as their main colour, I like the first name "Shadow". Then add a suitable last name...hunters, stalkers, knights, fists, etc.

Wow lots to think about here- thanks!
When the founding members came to the world (new name coming soon) they converted the tribe to the imperium of man and spread the word of the emperor, with the founding members spreading hatred for orks. However, the newly recruited tribesmen did influence the chapter with their traditions and culture, which was based lots around death (hense the death cult in the chapter description). Im not sure that the tribal themes from each of the continents would fit in a distant world in the forty-first millennium, however the world does have large predators and animals, which the tribes would have feared and fought, making them incredible warriors. The tribesmen stood taller then most humans, making them even bigger space marines. I was thinking of a native american theme, so the armour would maybe include pictures and symbols in that style.
loving the names, i especially like the grey/ crimson liberators and the fists of liberation.
Many thanks!
