An issue I'm sure we've all run across, I'm starting to have trouble transporting my army. Right now I've got one of them Battlefoam bags with a shallow, a medium, and a deep vehicle tray, as well as a guncase-type case with three shallow trays. I'm pretty fine at transporting the infantry I need to, but some of my larger models won't fit all at once. I could buy *another* bag/case, but I'd like to not have to carry 3 different cases. What's the best way to carry a lot of stuff?

I think the GW crusader case is ideal for carrying large, unusually shaped models, particularly if what you may pack has the potential to change. It holds a lot of models for its size, and the zigzag foam lets you pack strange models of indeterminate size. I am not fond of it for regular infantry, though.

i was having the same issue.
i went to a hardware store and got metal roofing shingles (whatever the actual name for them is escapes me), for about $1 each, then loaded up on magnets and glued one or two or however many onto my bases. stick them into a suitable hard box and you have yourself a fully customizable transport.

this guy lets me arrange my case however i want.

Next job would be to get a bookcase that i can fit that hardware in so i can display my army and grab and go if i need to

If you dont use there individual unit trays and just sheet metal the whole thing, you can fit a company worth of marines on 1 tray. (IIRC)

Hmm, this seems like a pretty good idea. Going to Lowes soon anyways, I'll stock up. Thanks man.

oh god... I am shuddering here.

Get a big GW case of the old sort. it fits 120 troops in 3x40 soft foam, and ditto space for vehicles.

Then there is always battlefoam etc.

United King room or

Magnets.

Glue small magnets on the on the undersides of your models

Get some biscuit tins

Put models in tins

Put tins in hockey/sport bag.

Have a look at my single gallery image. (that tin is at 90 degrees to horizontal, check the PC background) [Edit, have added a few more images]

Vehicicles need more magents, green stuff is your friend!

I can fit 100 boyz in a tin or 16 bikz

I have a GW case for my standard infantry.I've cut out a few parts of the foamtoaccomodate some larger HQ's.

Anything bigger goes into shoeboxes, carefully wrapped in towels. I stack them in one of those large shopping bags that are pre-formed so they stay upright 100% of the time. I use extra towels to fill up any remaining space to make sure they don't slide from one side to the other.

I cant decide If i had wasted money on old 2 small cases with the back pack. I dont remember the price of it all. I also bought the big case wich is 2 small cases in one. I also bought the big vehicle one. Where can i find the original cost so i know how much money i lost when i sell it? GW says they dont carry it so wont tell me original price. Go figure, the young punk doesnt know much about anything.

Kind of a big fan of battlefoam; the big case (1420XL or something like that) holds a damn lot of foam. I have the 720 and its my go to back full of BF for my armies. KR Multicase foam is really nice and soft; but I don't want to rely on cardboard for repeated use; it will wear out and if it gets wet, its mush.

I have a Guard army with 30+ tanks and 200+ infantry. I've gone through a number of transportation methods trying to find something that works. Right now I carry the lowly guardsmen in ziplock bags, then place the ziplock bags in paper bags. More important Guard I place in a GW foam case. For the tanks I recently bought a bunch of pick 'n' pluck foam from http://www.caseclub.com/.

KR Multicase didn't have an adequate foam set for a large number of tanks. And the Army Transports from Sabol just don't offer enough space when you have as many tanks as a Guard army needs.

I use a mix of battlefoam and sabol bags, mostly outfitted with battlefoam (and the occasional blufoam pluck trays). Generally speaking I can get everything for any given army into 1-2 bags unless there are ridiculously large models involved (such as large FW scale stuff like a Titan or big flyers or Colossals for Warmahordes). The large Battlefoam bags and the Sabol Motor Pool and Armored Company (which I think is sadly now OOP) are your best bets for these larger models.

The guy who introduced me to the game suggested that instead of GW's (apparently overpriced and crap) cases, to just get a generic suitcase and fill it with cut-out foam. Not sure how I'd feel about that.
He also said one guy he knows transports his army in old ice cream tubs (cleaned out of course).

One rather debatable method, is taking one of those boxes from the vehicle kits, and stick as many things inside as will fit. Then stack them 3 high in a carrier bag.

The Space Marine models I play with regularly are stored in a Battlefoam case. The rest of my (rarely-used) Space Marine models are stored in several GW cases.

My Chaos and Eldar stuff is stored in shoeboxes, tupperware containers, amazon shipping boxes, GW battleforce boxes... terrible, I know. I don't just throw them in there or anything, but stuff definitely breaks during transport. My X-Wing models get pretty much the same treatment, but they're a bit less fragile.

My Warmachine and Infinity models I store using magnetic bases. This is a really good solution for small model count armies - I haven't had any issues at all with stuff breaking during transport, the magnets hold firm. This is what I'll probably end up doing for my Chaos and Eldar models, as they have so many pointy bits sticking out that makes them such a pain to store in pluck foam.

Some of the Battlefoam cases stack, using zippers to attach to one another. I have a 720 case that holds most of my Marines, and a smaller attachment to carry flyers.

This is how I do it, but instead of cutout foam, I have cardboard dividers, and use old t-shirt for padding. Not pretty to look at, but its met all of my transporting needs so far

GW standard cases with each model wrapped in tissue paper. The models are usually too dynamic to fit in foam properly and I've found tissue paper actually keeps my models in better condition than foam does. I frequently fly with my armies btw and its very very rare that any get damaged at all. If I'm just going local a cardboard box works fine for me.

My suggestion would be the GW Crusade Figure case shown in this video made by GW themselves. It's the first case shown: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXgYfQUHKKA

I use a Battlefoam P.A.C.K. 720 case for most of my models, but I do have a few that just don't fit. What would be the best way to transport a Bloodthirster? The only time I've taken it anywhere, I just put it in a shoebox with plastic bags for padding (It's currently unpainted, so didn't have to worry about damaging the paint). That is not a good solution, especially when I finish putting my Soul Grinder together and have to find a way to transport it too. How does one deal with awkward or large models?

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

I have to leave them at home. Sold off my Heldrake due to this. I still have a Vendetta, but finding a way of transporting it has been a logistical issue since day 1. Mostly, you'd have to have a dedicated box for it, and that's often just not feasible.

What I have seen is someone glued magnets to the bottom of their minis and then attached sheet metal on the bottom of Rubbermaid or Sterilite containers (flatter ones so they could bring a lot of their armies). They then had some sort of dolly to set all of the containers on. I am considering doing the same, though I only have two armies and neither is all that big.
