Anyone have anything to report about this? I've only seen this pic so far.

Sorry if it's old news.

EDIT, just noticed it's a card game, never mind...

There's the full press release on FFG (https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2015/7/31/warhammer-quest-the-adventure-card-game/)

I can see this spawning lots and lots of expansions and POD card sets. Shame it is not the board game, but still. Could be fun, especially as it can be 1 player.

Slightly OT but relevant.. Heroquest changed ownership. It was announced at Gencon. Can't remember the name of the new company. I think they're going to be focused on RPGs at the onset but anyone who has the rights to HQ and doesn't do a boardgame deserves to not have all the cash that would generate.

I... don't know how I feel about this.

On the one hand- it'll be a lot cheaper to pick this up than a new copy of the original game (which I never got around to getting).

On the other hand- There's no tiles, minis, role playing book...curious how a card game (with dice though) can recreate that.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Are you talking about the Glorantha people? 'Cause they've had the Trademark for Heroquest for a while (based off of their roleplaying game Heroquest which I think predates the board game). Or is this something new?

It's about the Glorantha setting.. It just recently changed hands (it was announced at the onset of Gencon).

I dunno.. I haven't followed it too closely so maybe this is just chair shuffling or whatever, but they mention things like Cthulhu Wars and board games in that post.. maybe I'm reading too much into it.

Yes, that's because Stafford and Peterson tool back control of Chaosium , as it was being poorly managed, and in essence also bought back his old Glorantha RPG since he was coming out of 'retirement'.

This is the heroquest property that doesn't have anything to do with the MB/GW boardgame.

Well that pretty much kills any hope for a new version of WHQ then :(

I think AoS pretty much knocked that one on it's head anyway.

Warhammer Quest was amazing. I've rarely had so much fun playing a game. The only other GW game I enjoyed more was Necromunda. I'm convinced that's as close to nirvana as a wargame can come.

A pity armour was over-expensive and crap.

Upcoming work for 2022:
* Calgar's Barmy Pandemic Special
* Battle Sisters story (untitled)
* T'au story: Full Metal Fury
* 20K: On Eagles' Wings
* 20K: Gods and Daemons

I played some of the earlier beta versions of the game and it was fun even then. I am looking forward to the full product.

Urgh... Warhammer Quest has consistently been a high selling app on the AppStore.

GW already have snafit Night Goblins and Skaven...

It would be sooooo easy for them to reboot the actual boardgame with miniatures.

The best bit being WHQ is one of the few of GWs Skirmish games where the entire range of fantasy is applicable to expand the game (well, Chaos, Death and Destruction at least).

Why won't you take my money GW?????

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

Pick up a copy of the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game if you can.. the players at my local club already describe it as WHQ without the board and it's a really great game. I'm sure this will be just as good and very much in the same style hence the Adventure Card Game tag.

I believe that FFG one have the licence to do card and board games based on GW ip. Nothing involving actual miniatures so they couldn't redo WHQ even if they wanted to.

It's a shame but there you go.

I got a cheap copy of the Pathfinder card game, but just couldn't get into it. At least FFG is good about putting up the rules for new games before they release, so I'll wait and see how this one plays out, despite me wanting to see a new and shiny minis heavy version instead.

Any particular reason? The game certainly has its faults (setup time being the main issue) and a few things probably feel odd (e.g. almost every combat is resolved via a single die roll, Talisman style) but the rules themselves are pretty straightforward IMHO.

Not that it matters for WHQ:ACG.. since the ACG tag is presumably going to be a subgenre defined by persistence between sessions, the use of dice and cards in combination to resolve conflict and the cooperative nature of the game itself. Even if WHQs rules were terrible (unlikely) the nature of the game itself is probably enough to get me to buy it!

I didn't particularly like PACG because it felt like a roleplaying game with all the roleplaying sucked out of it.
