I just flicked through Crusade of fire, and it has this awesome sounding arena of death minigame.

I was wondering if anybody has made additional cards or anything for that? It sure sounds like it would be fun, but it also seems a bit limited.

It also sounds like you could make a legitimate game out of that. So I'm wondering if this has caught on with anybody. I'm seeing it for the first time.

** added poll **

Just played my first game and I quite enjoyed it. Pitted a tau commander against a juggerlord. To my surprise the lord just barely pulled through.

The game seemed quite simple and yet quite deep at the same time considering it was only two figures fighting each other. It didn't feel too random, because of how the initiative buffs from the cards stack.
And the all the combat tricks meant the lords daemon weapon didn't get as much use as he'd like and the commander still got to fire his fusion guns in the middle of melee.

Getting into an advantageous position really helped the commander to evade the lord and sneak in some hits. And even though the lord was on a juggernaut and the arena is quite small, he still had to leg it for 2 turns before charging the commander.
And the roar of the crowd in combination with some of the cards mean that even the bolt pistol was useful, and even taking a combi bolter would have made sense.

Which got me thinking. Could this be turned into a proper entry point game for GW? They could make decks for various factions and featuring different gladiators based on their model ranges.
You could initially make a deck based on one kick ass chaos lord, or maybe a chaos lord and hound or two. Or for those multiple rounds buy the odd model of theirs to pit against your own character in a SOLO mode (or just for fun against other players, like a GM).
So they could sell like creature packs to fight against like a bunch of cultists or wyches or flesh hounds and so on.

The game would obviously follow it's own rules and system and not the 40k one, but you can already use your cultists in the assasinorum execution force. This would be a cheap entry point and you can buy whatever single model you want.
And then you can potentially use the models for the assasinorum game or space hulk (I know they're not selling that anymore but the idea still holds).

After a while or buying one of their board games, they wouldn't be that far away from a small force that they could use for 40k, in which case the perceived entry cost is now only the rulebook and codex, rather than that PLUS an army. Never mind that by now they are already invested in the setting.
For veterans, they already have the models, they'd only need to buy the cards. It could be a tool for campaigns, especially as a filler for when the needed players aren't there. Or just as a fun distraction. It would also be a nice way to buy into another army. It makes for a nice, easy and cheap start into a second army.

I mean it would need a revision and streamlining and what not but I think the core concept isn't that bad both for GW and as a game on its own. Might prove to be a nice alternative to things like malifaux, with small enough model count. And it could live comfortably alongside 40k.
For example, I would love to have some quick n dirty tabletop games, but none of the current games really appeal to me. Taking malifaux again, I don't much like the design for it, as nice as it is. But put that in a 40k setting and models?...sign me up.
