Hi and welcome to my first post here.
Please allow me to introduce myself as a person:
My name is Rijn van Dooren, built in 1986, on rock and roll. Born, raised and living in the Netherlands
Long time Warhammer Fantasy player, did some
40K for last 2 years and dabbled in Warmachine: Menoth when the first ruleset cam out. (a long while ago)
With the release of Age of Sigmar my model collection is worth nothing to me anymore as I don't see how that game will work if it goes on like this.
So now im looking for new challenges, Warmachine has always spoken to me, but my gaming buddies weren't too much into it when Warhammer was still around and good.
Now things have changed. There is at least 1 dude I can play against and we are learning and going for it. Me as Khador, him is Everblight.
And the introduction as a player:
In warhammer i always loved the empire but started with vampire counts, then tomb kings, then empire. I have painted so many models (for my standards) that I'm pretty done with painting (3 fully painted 4.5K, 2K and 2.5K armies is a lot to do,....)
Now my playstyle always revolved around combined arms, no real deathstar tactic and my armies had the intention of working together making synergy work and get and reach victory together! At least, thats always been my plan
With the spiritual killing off warhammer i´m planning on getting other stuff in my gamingplans, going more elite / lower modelcount. I thought to myself Khador could be nice for this. Leaning towards MoW and expensive jacks. Less models on the table and more impact per model.
For those into computer games and specificatlly street fighter, I'd like my army to play as Zangief. Being slow, steady, hard hitting when i hit something and "unkillable" but easy hit-able.
This is a totally different approach then alllll my previous 10 years of gaming and playstyle. But i really want to try it.
progress:
i have read the MK2? rulebook once (skipped some parts like cavalary which i dont use at the moment) and have played 3 games @ 15 points and 1 battlebox game.
going to read the big rulebook at least one more time within the next two weeks.
My thoughts/take on Khador;
Seeing my background I'm totally into the old witch an scrappy. I also bought them to play with (didnt use them yet) and have read some posts here on this forum.
Im liking the big jacks a lot (all of them) and trying to look for a heavy jack that really is hard to kill and deals out a lot of death and destruction and has some good synergies with my caster. (thinking about the spriggan stuff perhaps?)
My caster,.... gives me headaches. I have no clue whom to play. I read we can only probably fit in 2 jacks efficiently tops. I dont need 3, but if i can it would be great!
also heavily about taking the great bears as they seem good for MoW models with a lot of pro's and almost no con's
also, i love the smokescreen mechanic of the template placing and covering my armies advance (though eveblight doesnt care, im not throwing this out of the window).Or perhaps other mechanics that 'shield' my jacks from death and destruction.
So where i need your help in my journey
- what kind of caster would you recommend for me?
- with what jack?
- and why?
What you will receive in return in this blog;
- an army blog
- my experience
- pics of mediocre painted models
what i do not want
- negativity (its a hobby! have fun!)
- holding on to claimed weaknesses without having them tried yourself at least once in a good way. (just copying people that say 'the juggernaut isnt worth the pointcost' without even trying is not good to me
)
so, if you have made it this far reading my post, be sure to drop a 'hello' so i can see you are intrested and following this. or perhaps even drop a few idea's to lead my to glory, for khador!
I see other posts of people starting khador. I also will be following them. But with all the forum posts and stuff i really like having a place for my own to post models and findings. if i mod's really have the need to split this up then its possible,.... please let me know.
Cheers,
Loempiaketzer
TL;DR
- played
WHFB for 10 years
- wanting khador, dont know where to start
- no horde army-playstyle wanted, more 'elite' kind of stuff
- help/ideas are very appreciated.
