Great Blood Ravens. Got a few painting questions...advice would be extremely helpful.
When you say "thin coats", how much is that? How much do you water down your paints?
How did you do the shoulder pads?

My two fav models from your space marines have to be the librarian and the leader of the first tactical squad. Well posed and dynamic as well as great painting.

Sorry, I dont use any sort of a scientific approach to it. I just sort of play it by eye, adding more water until i get it like I want it.
The shoulder pads are just deneb stone, thin coats till its solid, then bleached bone, thin coats till you have a solid colour.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House! |

Yeah, if you dont like the warmachine style, it can't really be helped.
Khador especially look incredibly top heavy, and the behemoth is the most top heavy of all of them. Just wait till it has the two giant bombard cannons on its shoulders.
Yep, every single joint on this model except the head has been pinned with a 1cm rod, and the wast has been pinned with a 3cm copper rod, going right up into its torso, but is not glued yet, as I am painting the torso and legs seperetly. Tho the legs are basically finished!
My current khador force is a lot of warjacks and stuff to paint.
Always so much to paint....

I did the eyes of the khador jack.
But I'm going by colour atm.
Getting all the red done, then the bronze, then the silver...
Since his 'jaw' is all bronze, it'll be coming once i finish the red

Another WIP.
People have told me many times I should attempt painting that isn't sharp edge highlighting, which has always been a crutch for me.
So I am doing my first attempts at blending highlighting on my khador force.
Comments welcome, also suggestions!

Again, nice work.
What colour are you painting the metal on it? or is it just going to be plain silver.
Try painting it rusty

Nice work on the blends, the red areas above the head look good and are most visible once the fig is finished.
But then to the problems. Once the bombard go on their place the placing of highlights on the arms might make sense, but currently, especially in the left arm, you have made the lowest area of the red shoulder armor the brightest. It should be other way round if light is coming from above.
I like the pose a lot and once the metals are also in place this is going to look stunning.

Thanks for the feedback.
I too noticed this problem, it sems from my lack of experience in this form of highlighting. Its def a learning experience I'll apply to future warjacks and models.
I dont think it'll look bad as a result, tho.
