So many many moons ago, I picked up a Lizardmen Battalion boxset to start up a Lizardmen army with and finally get into Fantasy with. I got them built, but never painted and they sat neglected in their box for quite a while.
When Age of Sigmar was announced, I finally took the opportunity to into the the world of Fantasy (or what's left of it ) and assemble myself up an army.

After few purchases from eBay, I now have an army that consists of the following:
1x Lord Kroak
1x Slann Mage Priest (new sculpt)
1x Slann Mage Priest (old sculpt)
1x Saurus Old Blood
1x Skink Chief
1x Kroq-Gar on Carnosaur
3x Skink Priests

94x Saurus Warriors (74x new sculpt, 20x old sculpt)
10x Temple Guard
66x Skinks (26x new sculpt, 40 old sculpt)
23x Saurus Cavalry (8x new sculpt, 15x old sculpt)

2x Salamander Hunting Packs
1x Razordon Hunting Pack
1x Stegadon with Engine of the Gods
1x Stegadon with Giant Bow (old sculpt)
1x Beastiladon with Ark of Sotek

And I also managed to pick up the 5th Ed Starter boxset with everything still on the sprue

I've decided to run with the default blue theme that GW uses and started to work my way through the skink units.
I picked out three of my Skink Heroes and start slapping some paint down:

Once I worked out how I wanted the blue, I started on the 40 older style skinks.

I picked out two victims and used them to work out what colours I wanted on them.

I'm hoping to steadily work my way through each unit and finally have a fully assembled and painted army for once
The mixture of new and older style models should enough variety and a little diversity to my army.

Yay!! Lizardmen! And that's a lot of ancient Skinks. I still remember buying my first box of them many years ago. I will follow along.

So progress is slowly happening, there's a whole bunch of very sad looking lizards soaking in Simple Green at the moment to get the paint off them. While that's happening, I've gotten all the base colours down on my Skinks, the shading and metallics will be done soon.

And I've assembled up my 20 old school Saurus Warriors, can't wait to get some paint onto these guys.

Looking great so far. I really like the 5th ed. Lizards brings back a sense of nostalgia.

So not much progress has happened during the week, other then me buying some new brushes and a pot of Retributor Armour gold paint (I think I'm in love with it).
Two of my skink priests are now finished, complete with fuzzy photos taken with my phone
Once I finish up my first bunch of skinks, I'll be moving onto painting the Slann.

So the first batch of Skinks have been finished up. There's a little cleanup that needs to be done on the bases and a few touchups to be done, but overall, I'm happy with them.

And a shot with the Skink Priests thrown into the squad.

Next up on the painting table, a 1997 Slann Mage-Priest.

The Slann Priest models have always interested me and I've been wanting to paint them since I first saw them.
I was fairly stoked when I found all three Slann sculpts on eBay for $20 each. The '97 sculpt Slann came new in the box, however the box was damaged in transit due to the seller just throwing the box in an envelope and sending it via normal mail.
Two of the arms for Saurus were lost in transit, a left arm and a right arm. The missing right arm was easy to replace, I just took one from the older style of Saurus warrior and it fits perfectly, the missing left arm wasn't as easy to replace. Some rummaging around in the bitz box soon offered a suitable replacement:
> Taking an old Saurus arm, I cut the weapon off the hand and removed the hand off the arm
> I took a Temple Guard musician arm and removed the drum stick and the arm
> I glued the Temple Guard hand to the older style arm and weapon

The finished result looks like this:

From a distance, you can't really notice the difference (just don't count the fingers, the older style has 4 and the newer has 3 )

So with the crisis of the missing pieces over and done with, I moved on to painting the actual Slann himself.
I started with a Skull White base coat, then a layer of Rotting Flesh.
Then a wash with Thraka Green, followed by a watered down layer of Moot Green, the gold was done with Retributor Amour.

Here's how he currently looks:

I had to break out the DLSR camera to try and capture how the green really looks, it looks patchy in the images, but IRL, it's a lot smoother.

Well it's been a while since I've posted any kind of update, life events keep getting in the way.
Hopefully I'll be able to get around to finishing of my Lizardman army, but until then, I've got some Deathwatch Marines to share.

As soon as I opened the box and saw the Marines, I knew that I had to convert them all to Blood Angels to fit in with my other Space Marines, so without any further ado, here they are:

So first up, we have the real Blood Angel from the box who was the easiest to convert, all I had to do was glue him together

Next up, we have the librarian, all I had to do was swap out the shoulder pad, he even already had the perfect icon on his shin pad too.

The Devastator was the next one to get the treatment. The Imperial Fist icon got scratched off the chest plate and was replaced by the BA teardrop and the shoulderpad was swapped out.

Vael Donatus has been changed into a Blood Angels Veteran with a head swap and the remove of the Ultramarine icons on his knee and backpack.

The second jump user in the boxset got some careful scalpel work done to his chapter icons, with the bird skulls being replaced by teardrops again.

Moving onto the White Scars speed freak, I swapped out the torso, weapon and head all for Blood Angel ones. The chapter icons were also scratched off the bike.

Zameon Gydrael lost his hood, sword and backpack, and was reborn as a Sanguinary Priest. I think I still need a few more bits to make him seem a little more Apothecary-ery, maybe a spotlight on the backpack and some extra bits on his arm to make a Narthecium.

Chaplains always look dark and foreboding, so the first thing I did to Ortan Cassius was swap out his head to a sweet skull helmet (or more specifically, the helmet that came with that sweet limited edition Interrogator Chaplain from Dark Vengeance). The bolt pistol arm was swapped out for one with a plasma pistol. Using an engraving tool, I removed the Ultramarines logo from the backpack and from the heraldry badge on his torso, which was then replaced by a skull.

Removing the Salamanders icon of the shoulder pad was the easiest bit of converting the Terminator. I removed the skull from the heraldry badge and put it onto the belt after removing the hammer icon. I placed a chalice icon to the badge, and looks pretty cool with the flames behind it The engraving tool came into play again as I carved off the Salamanders icon from the shin pad and replaced it with a tear drop from one of the tank sized BA icons.

I knew right from the start, that I'd have to convert Drenn Redblade the same way he converts his enemies...with a lot of hacking and slashing.
The chainsword and helmet were easily swapped, the shoulder pad, however, needed some careful work with the clippers. I wanted to keep the backpack with the bolter slung under it because it it looks cool, however after removing the Space Wolf stuff off it, I was left with a pretty horrible mess, a mess that was easily covered up by a Genestealers head I just need to add some string to make it look like it's tied on there and not just magically stuck there.
There was a small runestone that was on the pelt that got replaced with (you guessed it), the BA tear drop icon.

And last up, is my favourite conversion, turning an Iron Hands Marine into a Techmarine
The servo arm is from the Onager Dunecrawler kit and was the perfect size, all I had to do was cut of the claw and flip it around. The power axe is made out of left over bits from the Fulgurite Electro-Priest kit. I didn't really like the combi-bolter that he was originally armed with, so it was swapped out with a bolt pistol.

After finishing all the conversions, I sat back and thought "hmm, there's still some non-BA stuff on them".
So my excuse (or fluff) will be, that after dealing with Tyranids inside the Sin of Damnation, and with Hive Fleet Leviathan heading to Baal, a number of Blood Angels were dispatched to other chapters to learn tatics that would prove effective against the 'Nids. So for example, the Terminator (yet to be named) was sent to Salamanders to learn their ways with fire and that's why he's got a Firedrake hide.

Hopefully I'll get around to updating this more often (don't we all say that ).
I've got Skitarii that I'm working on, so I should be able to get some photos of them up soon. I've got some ideas for the Genestealers that are currently sitting unloved in the Deathwatch box, and of course, I've got plenty more skinks that need painting.
So far the only feedback I've gotten on these Marines was from a GW employee who just says "cool" to anything you show them, so feel free to leave any comments and criticisms below
