So, I was curious, What Eldar army is the most fun to play as and against? Primarily looking at Harlequins and Dark Eldar.. Regular Eldar seem a bit strong and rage inducing in people..

I play both Harlequins and DE, and they're way more fun together.

Because:

Webway Portal and Shadow Field from DE HQ's is great with harlequins

DE leadership weapons and armor of misery with Mask of secrets and death is not enough

Phantasmancy from Shadowseers combined with DE on foot

Cast of Players formation loves a raider

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

Eldar Craftworlds can be quite fun, as long as you aren't spamming Scatbikers, D-Weapons, and the Wraithknight.

Don't take a Wraithknight and don't spam scat bikes. Use lots of Aspect Warriors. Go for CC Aspect Warriors like Banshees and Scorpions. Use less used models like Shining Spears, Vypers, Guardians. You'll probably lose most of the time against strong tournament style lists from Space Marines and Necrons and things like FMCs but it evens the playing field against weaker casual lists and armies. No one ever complains about having to fight Guardians or Howling Banshees.

The Aspect Warriors aren't that bad in terms of cast quality....due to them being completely mono-pose.

I find both myself and my opponents enjoy an Eldar force that's highly mobile. It's very interesting and enjoyable to try to "catch" the Eldar so that they can't slip away. Once you do catch them, they tend to die pretty quickly. This is why I think the Wraithguard aren't right for Eldar - they are the polar opposite; slow & tough.

Even a single squad of scatterbikes isn't too bad to be completely fair. It's the scatterbikes on top of WK on top of crazy pskyer phase that is just soul crushing.

The Eldar can still be very lethal without the WK by using war walker and vypers and aspect warriors. But it also gives the opponent a chance to strike back meaningfully.

You can play Craftworlds without being really unfun, just stay away from units that are mathematically broken and focus on some lesser used stuff like more aspect warrior, guardians, vypers etc

Hmm.. What are the most unfun OP units in the Craftworld Eldar army, To aboid? The Wraith Knights, Strength D Wraith Guard, Scatterlaser Bikes..

I'd wanna use Aspect Warriors, And Guardian units. Maybe one unit of bikes, But probably not give them all scatterlasers..

I'd strongly look into the Guardian Battlehost and the Aspect Host formations if that's the kind of army you want to run. Take them as part of a Warhost and Battle Focus gets a lot more powerful while still requiring you to use it properly.

I have an all-aspect warrior Biel-Tan army that is super fun to play AS. Playing against it is much less fun, unfortunately.

I also have a DE army that uses some of the Haemy Covens stuff, and that is just as much fun to play as and against.

I personally absolutely love the CWE codex. My favorite army to play as is a combination of the various aspect formations to make a Biel-tan style army. There is so much variety in that army that I have never had a boring game. Really CWE are not so bad as long as you don't spam any one choice. Really even the D wraithguard spam is actually not that nasty as long as the player facing it knows what they are doing and didn't decide to take all their pts in a 1-3 units.

Out of the two armies you mentioned; DE and Harlies. The only army I have found to be fun for an extended period of time is the Freak Show style lists where you use various Ld modifiers and attack the opponent's leadership. The other builds I have seen for DE and Harlies are too mono dimensional or require you to not play against top tier lists (which there are dozens of now) for my tastes. The Haemy Coven lists are also not bad, but require a lot of investment.

In order of competitiveness, I'd rate them as Eldar, Dark Eldar, Harlequins.

Personally, I find it most enjoyable to mix and match for unique combinations. (Like over here.)

Gun to my head? Dark Eldar (covens), Harlequins, Corsairs, Craftworld Eldar.

Against? A dead one.

As? Allies to a Wraithknight, when your opponent is Ultramarines.

They're all pretty entertaining, but I think Aspect Warriors of Biel Tan are the most fun.

seriously here the eldar army is simply the wet dream army for math hammer addicts and hardcore tournament players, the army isnt ment to be played "for fun" omitting obscene unbound spam X unit lists here like "only guardians" armies playing the eldar is an exercise in math and statistics i isn't about fun or sillyness and your practically falling asleep on the other end of the table as the turns go by practically begging rngesus in your own head to come down from heaven, grant some freak rolling for a turn to spice the game up for a minute.

killing eldar isnt about out maneuvering, or by doing crazy target saturation or priority masking its about smple raw numbers and as a result you cant have fun playing against eldar im sorry

The reason Eldar are the army of choice among cheesemongers is that they have broken units that are easily spammed in a CAD. That's where you get all the mathhammer proving that Scatbikers are objectively better than most units in the game and will statistically murder pretty much everything.

Fortunately, Eldar have units other than Scatbikers and the Wraithknight. Don't use those, and focus more on Aspect Warriors, and Eldar can be a lot mroe interesting to play with and against.
