When you roll an Explosion! on the penetrating hit and your tank explodes (chaos rhino with 9 Berserkers and Kharn) for example, how to I go about rolling for the wounds? My friend seems to think it's 10 d6 per model in your transpiration which means 100 D6 wounds I need to save and every time it wipes out the entire Unit which is really annoying, This has happened with Abaddon and 4 Terminators in a Land Raider as well

The rule you're after is on page 82 of the rule book in the section "Effect of Damage on Passengers".

I don't see how that can be interpreted in any other way than it's written! Have a read of it, should hopefully clear things up and make you're friend realise they're making a rule up!

Did it not occur to you that rolling an average of 35 wounds per model in an exploding vehicle is beyond ridiculous?

People would never use vehicles for transport purposes if this was the case.

Probably fast-read it, saw that everyone in the vehicle takes a wound and the blast is d6 inches, scanned over the middle bit and saw every model takes d6.

I was thinking it was a pi$$ take coz I had lost all 3 rhino units from exploding

Atleast I know now that I'm rolling 1 d6 save each model when the rhino pops

I'm sure it was an error in reading because it reads something like "Take one d6 wound per model" and I was too dumb to question it and he must have thought it was multiplier (10 models 1 wound per model 10 saves per model)

The explosion has to roll to wound the passengers as well, and its only S4...

Basically, everyone inside an exploding vehicle takes a S4 hit. It might be S3 these days, I don't remember.

Everyone within D6 inches of an exploding vehicle takes a S3 hit.

In 6th it was s4 on the inside and s3 on the outside, I believe in 7th it is str 4 on both.

No no no. Read the rule again, because lucky for you, that's not how it works.

Each model inside takes a Strength 4 hit. I.E. you get an average of five 3+ saves you take.

Then everyone outside takes the same in a D6 radius.
