Soo.....kinda what was expected I think. Based off stuff from the books, not necessarily what was there IRL - but all looks reasonable as models, and so will have use in one way or another. I'll leave it to the experts to confirm exactly which variants/time periods the models represent!

Are they plastic? The Abrams is a supremely dull looking vehicle (just like the Zvesda one). Hopefully people will stowage them up a bit.

I don't know. I see a bit of a difference.

The Zvesda one is worse than I remember. Both need a bunch of stowage though and once that's added there won't be much difference.

Except the complete lack of panel detail on the track skirts, no machine guns, no smoke grenade launchers, , missing wind sensor, no dog house doors, missing side bustle racks and a 120mm gun on the Zvesda model, you're right, they are the same.

Most of which you could cover with stowage and netting. I admit The MGs would be a problem but the main gun may be less of an issue. Zvesda guns tend to be a bit smaller than their BF counterparts, they may be more similar than their calibre implies.
This is a Leopard 2 not an Abrams but you get the idea.

And having spent a tiny bit of time on armored vehicles, I can tell you that example is the absolute extreme and rare as opposed to how armored modern armored vehicles generally look on campaign, AND you'll note the smoke grenade launchers and the detail on the track skirts and other aspects I pointed out in the models are still visible on that Leo.
The reality is on a movement to contact or on the offense you are not stuffing pine branches all over your track. What you would see is crew gear and POL products stuffed in the bustle racks (which ONE of those models is lacking).
And I submit, using the zillions of FoW 15mm models out there, most gamers are not gonna try replicate stowage let alone the pine branches on your Leo on their gaming models, so the VERY clear differences between the Zvesda and Battlefront models will be clear on the vast majority of table tops where the game is played.

I'm not most gamers and I don't speak for them. Either BF or Zvesda, stowaged up in the only way I'd want to field them.

So the M1 and T-72 are the only tanks available in wave 1? Odd. I'd have thought that they'd include M60s and T-64s.

I'm just hopeful for a 1980's Soviet-Afghan war. I want my CIA armed Mujahideen blowing up T-72's dammit.

You probably could already do that. Or you could make a set of rules for Mujahideen. Like a mashup list of Soviet-American equipment.
Also hype for tanks. M1 dispenses freedom and the T-72 is just great. I quite like the look of newer (relatively) Cold War tanks on the NATO side. Love me some Challenger 1 and Chieftan.

Terrain preview up today. If you've been purchasing the Western European stuff that Battlefront has released over the last few years, then a lot of the terrain in the pictures will look familiar. But they've also got some new buildings (a gas station, for instance), and modern roads.
