I am having a lot of fun with this space wolves list, I know I'm a bit vulnerable against FMC, but encountered no other units that where a real problem.

I am looking for an other HQ choise.

I misread ragnars rules and now find him too exspensive.

any suggestions or comments are welcome.

Harald Deathwolf is a pretty solid choice for a list that's heavy in Thunderwolf Cavalry... His Furious Charge can buff both TWC units, if you keep them relatively close, and he's five points less than Ragnar, with better Strength, Toughness, Wounds, and Attacks, a better weapon (though Initiative 1), and a better invulnerable save.

If you are willing to shift a few more points toward your HQ, a Wolf Lord on a Thunderwolf Mount, with Krakenbone Sword, Runic Armor, and Felltooth's Claw is quite a monster.

If you've already built the models, it may be moot, but you can safely run a 6-man TWC unit with only 4 Storm Shields. Between model placement and being able to Look Out, Sir! your Pack Leader, 2 SS/3 models is really the most you should ever need. That and the 5 points saved with Harald gets you 3 Long Fangs with a Lascannon and a Missile Launcher.

Personally, I'd drop the Grey Hunters and run 10 Power Armor Wolf Guard in the Drop Pod - give them 2 Combi-Plasmas, 8 Bolt Pistols, and 10 CCW weapons, get rid of the Power Fist and Melta Bombs (you've got a Dread with Great Axe/Blizzard Shield, a Wolf Guard Terminator unit full of Thunder Hammers and Storm Shields, and a dozen TWC. You're set for heavy cc.). You save 25 points, by my math, just on that unit, and you've got better Leadership, better WS (CotGW), one more shot with Plasma, and more attacks in cc.

And with 2 Thunder Hammers in each TWC unit and all those Wolf Claws, you could probably drop that Frost Axe and just use a ccw. Another 20 points. Drop one Wolf Claw for a ccw, and you've got a total of 65 more points - another Lascannon Long Fang and another Missile Launcher Long Fang. Or, if all those models are built already, you can just run your FA/SS TWC as Harald. Dropping Ragnar and using the FA/SS model as Harald saves you 80 points, right there.

Tanks for your reply.
Al the models are built like posted, i'll use fa/ss twc as harald.

I have a new batch of thunderwolves coming in this week I'm planning to make Iron priests on thunderwolves to fill my mandatory elite slots is that a good idea, of too much of a good thing?

Iron Priests on a TWM are fantastic especially with a couple cyber wolves as ablative wounds.

I'm definitely in favor of using Iron Priests on Thunderwolves. Even with 4 Cyberwolves, they're measurably cheaper than any of the named HQs, and you've got as many as 5 S10 AP1 (or S10 AP2 Concussive) attacks on the charge. Cyberwolves can also accept (or issue) challenges, too, and they can Look Out, Sir your HQ or actually get LOS'ed by a model with an Invlun save. I don't know that I'd go more than one per TWC unit, though, if you're using multiple TWC units.

If you go that route, consider using one of your Double Wolf Claws TWC as Canis Wolfborn. His SR is only for his unit (so more situation-specific than Harald's), but if that unit is heavy with Fen Wolves (he can take 2) and Cyberwolves (Iron Priest can take 4), they're all re-rolling failed to hit rolls. That said, one TWC unit with Canis and 2 Iron Priests, for a total of 2 Fen Wolves and 8 Cyberwolves will just flow right through almost any sized MEQ unit.

In large point games, having one full unit of TWC with Harald, 2 Fen Wolves, an Iron Priest, and 4 Cyberwolves, with a second unit containing Canis, 2 Fen Wolves, an Iron Priest, and 4 Cyberwolves, and having them within 12" of each other at the start of Assault means every single one of the models in both units gets Furious Charge, even if the two units aren't Assaulting the same enemy unit. You can have each unit Assaulting a separate unit, so long as they're within 12" of each other at the start of the Assault phase, and so long as each unit is only attacking one unit - multi-charge cancels out Furious Charge. The CW and FW in Canis's unit are also re-rolling failed to-hits.

Pretty expensive, though.

ok, I changed my list a bit, but stil have a considerable amount of points left.

I don't have any cyberwolf models, and want to avoid longfangs, I just don't want to play them in this list.

what can I add?

2 units of 6 Wolf Guard in Power Armor with 2 combis per unit and a Drop Pod per unit will bring you to 1846 points. You'll want someone to be mid-field or in your opponent's back-field to shoot up their units and keep them engaged in cc, so they're not picking off your cav as the cav makes its way across the field. The Ven Dread can only do so much, and most of the shooty armies in 7th edition will either start far away from your cav or move away as your cav runs at them. With 3 Drop Pods, you get 2 coming in on Turn 1, and both units (probably Ven Dread and 1 Wolf Guard unit) can be in cc Turn 2, with the other unit coming in and firing Turn 2. The WG and Ven Dread might get chewed up a bit, but they'll keep enemy units stationary and whittle them down a bit for your TWC to tear into, whenever they finally get there. Also remember that those Iron Priests may be able to repair the Ven Dread, if you position things well.

had a battle yesterday against an other space wolves player, but didn't get my iron wariors playable unfortunately.

instead of ragnar I used Harald and only 5 grey hunters with no updates. and the void claw formation so in my first turn I would have them come in and two droppods.

he also played some cavalery, but had outfitted them with powerfists and thunderhammers.

the only thing that took a lot of time was arjac's shield brothers and Logan.
