I am not really in the mood for another new race but I was wondering if 40k was to ever add a new race race do you think it would be. Personally I just thought it would be an interesting question seeing as so many different people are interested in different things. It would be interesting to find out what everyone thinks. I personally think it would be cool to see a lizardish race like trandoshan's but bigger and more lizard like. I think they should continue to expand what they have as their is so much more they can add I just felt like it would be an interesting question as everyone has a different opinion on things and thought it would be interesting to find out what everyone thinks.
Spoiler:
I think orange is the most visually appealing color on this theme.

I'd like to see the Reapers from ME in 40k. The possibilities for the army would be vast. Unique husks for Orks/Eldar/Tau. Reapers as Titan units. A special rule that lets you indoctrinate the enemy warlord to weaken the opponent's army in some way.

The Covenant would be pretty cool too. A religious alien army with a lot of light infantry and fast vehicles would be neat. Somewhere between Eldar and IoM in that respect.

I would say the covenant operates a lot like the imperiuim in terms of class. My question is could a brute beat a space marine.

Even though I believe all of the awesome Xenos races we've heard about should be grouped up and given to us in a 'Xenos' Codex, where you can field detachments of Xenos in support of your armies (obviously the Imperium would say feth that so it's more a non-imperium detachment (which would be great for once)).

The three I most want are :

Thyrrus -
http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Thyrrus
Giant Flashy Slugs that believe War is a giant art-show and will always choose to do something flashy rather than something smart and efficient.

Hrud -
http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Hrud
Swamp-monster people who emit a temporal field that ages everything near them at an enhanced rate. That would be terrifying to face because even if you beat them, you've lost life-time.

Umbra -
http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Umbra
Nightmare Orbs that control shadows and use them to form weapons or other implements. They're generally drawn to where the warp has been breached, e.g. warp engines or webway portals.

The salamanders are black in skin color, although to be frank I don't think human races are really a thing anymore in lore I think all humans are basically so bred with each other their is really one race in terms of physical appearance I don't know why they don't add different features to these people. But speaking for terra I am pretty sure there isn't a huge difference racially other planets probably.

There is not this idea.

I do like the Hrud, but I feel like they would actually have to retcon out the whole "aging field" thing. It's just not something that would work on the tabletop.

I'd like to see a new race with a new mechanic more than anything else - you've got synapse, ig doctrines, mechanicum protocols, mob rule etc etc.
Something thats different rather than ok I have a commander and 10 units moving about.

I fear however GW have neither the inclination or skill to write something new in.

There are people with dark skin in 40k. but ethnicity as we perceive it does not exist in 40k. Humanity has pretty much moved on from such petty distinctions.

The fact the GW paint team doesn't have any skin tone beyond "pasty white boy" is their failing, and not the setting.

I love the skaven but I have never thought that GW was really on point with their design. I have a pet rat and have never really felt that they were to rat likehttp://1.bp.blogspot.com/--4wXhjQSauQ/TwKye1CFRKI/AAAAAAAAAMo/55nc1QEfjKU/s1600/wip_clanrats03.jpg My rat looks similar to thishttps://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/62/Ratte-Vache.jpeg
I am not saying in no way that there rat is bad I just think it could be worked on a little better. They seem to have a more hyena like appearancehttp://www.wildlife-pictures-online.com/image-files/hyena-knp01-g.jpg
I would love to see 40k skaven but I would love to see them improve their rat model as well because to be frank it was good at the time they made them but they really need to update them.
P.S. rats only have two teeth.

I also like Space Skaven. I even like Mantic Space Skaven. I do not like restic. I abhor restic.

I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.

Squats don't really have a role in 40K anymore, unfortunately, and their racial lore is (and was)... pretty dire for as "serious" a game as 40k presents itself.. Everything they did and were is covered by SM or IG, with a smattering of AdMech.

I can't foresee anything of value to be added as separate "races" at the moment. Perhaps some additional factions of races that already exist (Farsight Enclave as a book that is as divergent from Tau as the Dark Eldar are to Eldar, perhaps, and Klan books for the Orks), and bringing back old ones such as Lost and the Damned, but new ones entirely... don't think I'd much care.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

Yeesh, betwenn stuff like ad mech, skitarri, harlequins, and all the other little mini-codexes, it seems like we already have our hands full with new codexes.

But they're all offshoots of existing races, I suppose.

Maybe they could go the blizzard route and make a race of space pandas.

It's one thing to have a new army that is basically an old army with a new look. A "reskin" to use a video game term... but there's not really much of a point to that. You can already do that with existing books. Just use different models as "counts as".

The problem is, from the fairly limited range of options available to the TT game, pretty much everything is covered. There's not really a niche left to fill.

Maybe black people are extinct in the future and everyone is white. It makes perfect sense doesn't it? 40,000 years is a long time.

I know I'll see hate for this, but Exodite Eldar.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

We have daemons, so while this may seem cliche, why not angels? Of course, these angels wouldn't really be "good," moreso vindictive and self-righteous, a lot like the imperium- and that's the point.

Their fluff would be really interesting if it hinted that the angels were previous heroes of the imperium, now reborn from the warp. We'd see people like Malcador, some of the primarchs, or maybe even a twisted version of Big E himself. They could be pure-looking, clad in golden armor, lots of things very reminiscent of the imperium. Of course, they wouldn't be straight-up reincarnations; rather, they'd be warped interpretations. It would probably involve a lot of psykers, and use large creatures rather than vehicles, or maybe some strange cross of machine and beast.

The standard ground-troops could be fallen marines or even IG. They could have plenty of MCs that are manifestations of fallen machine spirits, mostly from destroyed titans and the like. Even better, since these angels would mostly be heroes that died pre-heresy, they would absolutely despise the current IOM. Of course, the angels themselves wouldn't realize who they really are, but something instinctual would make them hate what the IOM has become.

Several things could spawn these guys, such as the death of the Emperor making a huge mess of the warp, some chaos experiment gone wrong, or maybe a tzeentch plot gone just as planned. I really think they'd have the potential to be really unique looking, as they could be done up in white and gold, and have organic bits much like daemons do. They'd be human-esque with some mutation, like talons for feet.

They certainly couldn't be a horde faction. Though they'd only be banished back into the warp, like daemons are, they'd only include heroes who fell pre-heresy, or maybe a select few post-heresy who really got what the Emperor intended. Since they'd all be heroes, they'd be an army of quality over quantity, focusing on small, tough units.

Covenant would actually fit really well into 40k, however an actual 40k race is all that can be done

I say expand upon already mentioned races like Sslyth and Hrud etc and just have them as a BB type thing for everyone but IoM, might stop some of the Xenos whining and would make sense given the need for mercenaries
