I was looking at ways to decrease some of the ranged spam in the list and also get some combat in there, and figured swapping the Sorceress for a Fleetmaster could be legit? Absolutely in theme, fights harder (pity no multi-wound though), survives far better, command ability synergizes with the Corsairs (though can also douchily boost the bolter if you need to
), and sacrifices magic as an acknowledgement to how much shooting is in the force.
All the same, a good start. More Corsairs are incoming I'd guess? And some combat specialists perchance? Dare I say it: RELEASE THE KRAKEN?!
Thanks for the great response! Yeah, setting a theme to this army is key in my eyes. Not much interest in having a blatant and typical Dark Elf force. I'm thinking on making a dark elf fleet almost, so it will indeed have a lot of shooty-shooty units - but at the same time I want there to be enough corsairs right now to form a good and strong unit - accompanied by a fleet master of course - who I'd like to personalize a little. I think an eventual long term plan will be to have a larger force with Darkshards and Dreadspears on an even larger boat, lead by a melee hero and the sorceress at his side. A small raiding slaver fleet of sorts perhaps.
The kraken idea is a great idea, I think a Karibdyss may be on the to-buy list.
The current boat has a reaper bolt thrower on the bow(as most Druchii raiding vessels have according to lore.)
My main goal for this fleet is to make it pretty, yet functionable should anyone ever wish to do combat.
I may edit my first post with a wishlist of models and materials required.
EDIT
Most people include the crew's wounds for a Warmachine, which makes the list 21 wounds total. Would only matter if you're playing with hard total caps. Me, I'd likely add 4 corsairs and call it 25

How many wounds/points would a ship cost? How could I work out the basic rules and armour for it? I know that although stationary the bolt thrower would function as normal assuming it has two crew members(which it will) and is constantly immobile obviously. Any resources would be great!
I'll upload pictures of the
WIP as soon as I can, it'll give a better idea of scale. Quite happy with the progress so far though.
Thanks,
