Just finished painting a commission for Space Hulk Tyranids. They are painted in a black and white colour scheme with a bit of colour added by the help of ultramarine helmets.
Those models are super good looking, the poses are great and the bases are very scenic. The only downfall is a lack of detail on the helmets and some other areas of the models, which makes painting trickier and I was forced to create detail by freehand. So it definitely took longer to paint those as suppose to usual genestealers. What do you guys think?

Awesome! I love seeing Nids that actually have almost insectoid schemes rather than just contrasting colours!

Thanks! I have used insects as inspiration when I initially developed this colour scheme a few years back. For the skin the white is airbrushed in fine layers over olive drab base coat as a zenithal highlight (45 degree angle). Just keep it light and maybe add a few washes and it should result in a more dimensional look.

So you painted the back after the airbrushing then?

Yep, I painted the black after getting the skin to the right tone.

Nice work on the geneatealers and broodlord. An oversight however the ultramarines veterans wear white helmets not blue. A sergeants helmet would be red with white. Maybe a librarians terminator helmet would be blue, or a captain.
