So, will this replace a regular Cthulhu model, or be an extra one?

I'd expect it to be an extra. Many backers are from the previous KS, so won't be buying a Cthulhu figure, since they won't be buying the base game again. Logistically, it would be too costly to replace the figure in the base game box just for portion of the KS backers.

Had no idea Cthulhu Wars would have a second campaign soon. I missed out on the first and the chance to get it all along with newer stuff is really tempting. I'd have to drop my Warpath pledge to do it though...

Arrrgh!

Is it a good game for 2 players? I might not even play the game that much to be honest, but I'm a huge Lovecraft fan and those miniatures are brilliant. I signed up for the glowy Cthulhu if I do decide to pledge. Very tempting...

fun enough for 2 (unless you both stick to the same faction/tactics all the time which would get old fast),

but it really shines as 3-4 player (from the sound of it with more although I've not tried larger games)

Ask around on BGG. I know the question's been asked, but haven't read anything recent about a 2-player variant. Sandy *did* mention a miniatures skirmish game using the figures, but I don't know much more than that. You can also use the figures for the Strange Aeons miniatures skirmish game, as well as Song of Blade and Heroe's Fear and Faith expansion, I think, not to mention the Call of Cthulhu RPG -- fun RPG with two people, I think!

fwiw, The first KS raised funds for retail production of the expansions, but cost overruns (including this-and-that to make backers happy) kept them from doing this. OS2 is meant to raise funds for retail expansion costs, as well as offer expansions Green Eye Games didn't create earlier because they didn't have the licensing rights at the time (I guess no point acquiring them if you don't know if your multimillion project will succeed!). I *think* Sandy Petersen, the game designer (also of DOOM and Call of Cthulhu RPG fame), also had a few more ideas after the first KS ended.

Again, you'll need to pledge $150+ to get the promo. If you're new, the base game and a few expansions should easily reach this. Whether or not you can afford it is another matter, unfortunately!

I do think CW will be harder to find at a good discount, since GEG mentioned they couldn't offer the standard discount distributors (some international?) wanted for the game.

I'm also picking it up for the mini's! The game's expensive for a boardgame, but a great price for a bulk purchase. Other sculpts I've seen are more expensive, even in plastic (?). I don't want do know how much the Cthulhu figure costs in metal!

I only paint to tabletop, but here's a wash followed by glazing as part of a WIP:

The minis are my primary focus, using them for Strange Aeons primarily (which arrived in the mail today!). If I went in I'd go in for pretty much everything. Kinda leaning toward backing it, we'll see. Thanks for the feedback guys!

Oh, and great Star Spawn there Ced!

Thanks! The base game plus an expansion should get you the promo!

Some pics of the expansion figures from the previous CW KS. I think they should be available during OS2!

Nice thing is backers get that giant sandworm- looking Bhole from a few posts back included with all our stuff from the last time around... which we're still waiting for.

Moment of truth- I backed the first campaign, and have yet to play or punch anything in the box. Will more than likely sell it when I get my leftover expansions and materials from the 1st campaign.

Yet I find myself strangely attracted to the idea of pledging for everything all over again... strange.

I must be getting manipulated by machinations of some Elder Thing beyond space and time... all according to keikaku.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

To be honest, all the cool stuff was in the first one, nothing really grabs me here.

I'm pretty excited about the Yithians, Celaeno and the Tcho-Tcho, as well as the Thing in the Well.

Do you think the reason is that CW1 primarily offered the HPL mythos creatures, while CW2 has the less familiar mythos creatures from other authors? I have a fair number of Call of Cthulhu scenarios and Chaosium Mythos CCG cards, and not many of the CW2 miniatures, other than Yithian, Tcho-Tcho, and Dhole, appeared in these games.

Not helping that the art director (?) and artist Richard Leong are no longer in CW2. Fenris Games is still sculpting.

Mostly interested in the Ithaqua Wind Walker set, myself, because it's in the Eldritch Horror expansion, Mountains of Madness...!

EDIT: Could also be the SG's. In CW1, at 400K, we had five GOO's added. Of course, it took longer to reach 400K for CW1!

Ithaqua is the faction I'm most eager to get hold of too, (or the Tcho Tcho from this one)

@Bob
I think the fact that the game is already here and most of the these are basically just GOO expansions rather even full factions that are leaving you a bit cold

Unprepared for stretch goals, and those goals turn out to be a different coloured already available model? No thanks.

I admit the stretch goals so far are... uninspiring. I'm in this for the new expansions, though, and to pick up a couple of the original expansions I didn't get first time around.

They seem to be workng their way through glow in the dark versions of already available models now.

Meh.

Dropped my pledge in favor of another project anyway.

Yeah, the majority of the stretch goals have been really really "Meh".

Still keeping my pledge though, I want all the expansions, and plan to get addons when the manager comes through.

It's not just that the goals are meh, I get why, it was just the whole oh we're having trouble keeping up with the success, it was unexpected yadda yadda..
I want to see examples of you having gained wisdom from your first campaign, and not as it applies to milking backers on easy stretches.

Many of the SG's are based on gameplay requests from BGG: more dice, make your own faction, faction GOOs as independent GOOs, etc. Would have preferred new sculpts since I'm mostly interested in the mini's..

Should be amusing to have a shelf full of glowing GOOs, though! Wonder if they'll have all seven!

EDIT: OT: Miniature Market: Daily Deal: Eldritch Horror: $25

Yeah, give me an alt cthulhu or something, I mean wtfn? And colored bases, maybe with rules, no promises tho! I have 6 identically ugly yellow sign undead, throw me a bone in between your glowing/recolored gak goals and resculpt something.

Cthulhu Wars is a great game, and if you didn't get in on the original campaign then it's worth checking out. But as someone who got all the original stuff, I agree that the stretch goals are pretty uninspired. Don't care about glow in the dark versions of things I already have, or alternate colored gates or other duplicates. I like the game a lot, and $150 for all the new stuff is probably a fair price. I need to paint and play with all the stuff from the original campaign's expansions before I worry about adding more at this point, and those are just now shipping from China.
