Playing a 1k game tomorrow. My 3rd game ever and 2nd with space marines. Any advice appreciated. It's 1000 points on the nose as is.

I like this list bit too many flamers for my playstyle but each to there own.

One thing that stands out is you will need to drop 1 tac marine in order to put your libby in a rhino (which in turn loses you a missile launcher. unless you combat squad one unit but then your left with 4 guys protecting a missile.

I would drop one guy change the flamer to a melta and add a combi-melta to the serg. or add lascannons onto your stormtallon.

I would consider dropping all of the flamers and rocket launchers for melta-guns, and also make some space for a Land Speeder (drop a few marines), then you can take the 3 WhirlWinds in the Suppression Force formation, which is very powerful.

This way you will be able to deal with enemy armor and absolutely destroy infantry.

3 full tac squads in a 1k list is probably a little more then you need. at the very least, I’d cut one on half and move them to a razorback. This would be a nice place to stick your Librarian.

ML/F, while classic, is probably not the most effective load for tacs. I like at least one full melta (MM/M, c-melta) and if you want to keep one for hordes, HB/F can work well. MLs can do OK, but they are generalist weapons, and often you are going to want a more focused tool for the job.

I’d try to find points to upgrade to skyhammers on the talon.

I like the 3xWWs. I’m not sure you need that level of firepower at this point level. But it will blow hordes off the table.

On that note: How much anti-horde firepower do you need? Do your friends play green tide or swarmy ‘nids? Because between all the flamers and the WWs, I think you might be erring too far on that side of the spectrum. I’d cut some of the horde fire out, and add some more anti-tank. Switching the tacs over to full melta is probably the best option for that.

I'm gonna be playing against guard and if i remember right hes gonna be running 1 valk, and about 30-40 guardsman unless hes built more... not sure what all else hes gotten since last time. I've got a few hours till my game and i'm gonna take your tips to heart and play with the list a bit. Maybe dropping two missile launchers for two lascannon?

This comes in at 986 of 1000. Sad I had to lose my mastery lvl 2 but at this point bracket i'm not sure i'll need that upgrade... Any ideas for sealing this bad boy up for tonight?

Unless my brain is tricking me with regard the 9man squad (the libys unit) you cant have a missile launcher as unit must have 10 to get a heavy weapon. you can only have a special wepon.

It is either/or, he’s fine. Although if you are putting 9 guys in a rhino with a HQ, you probably want the special over the heavy.

Ausepx for lib
Extra gun for speeder
melta bombs
combi weapon for sarge

heavy weapons other than a grav cannon are a waste on tacticals. Your having four to 9 guys sit around while one guy fires a missile. Take them in groups of 5 or 6 with special weapons and a matching combi.
