Hello all.

I want to present you my and my brothers project, dedicated to Historical 15mm wargaming (but keeping mainly FoW in mind ):
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/frontarc/pre-painted-historical-15mm-wargaming-terrain

We've been working on this terrain for the last 10-11 months and finally we launched a Kickstarter campaign.

We have also managed to cooperate with Deep-Cut Studio and they made a 4'x6' wonderful Playmat specially for our Kickstarter.
Let me know here what do you think about this project. We are open for your ideas. For example - we could make some stretchgoals according to your suggestions.

To start off I really wish you well with your project, but for me your lacking on your market research.

For starters fleabay is awash with laser cut(forgive me if its cut in some other way) stuff at low prices and due to the easy way this stuff can be made I cannot see you making a fortune out of it. I have a wood working friend who created a simple 15mm building using the CAD type system within a day(research to prototype to finished building) so its not rocket science.

I wargame with 8 friends weekly and a larger group of about 25 monthly, they all hate laser cut stuff for FOW.

Your buildings are pre-painted. One of the best things about Dakka is what people do with similar bits of kit and make them their own via a pot of paint and a few bits. Landmark make pre-painted buildings and the biggest complaint is that they come painted, learn the lesson.

Your stuff works well with for say the paving and bridge type stuff as its industrial, accurate and straight line after straight line but for buildings in Europe ? Really ?

Last time I looked there wasn't a straight wall or level window sill in the whole of Europe, let alone a perfect roof.

Your stuff is too perfect. Buildings aren't all about straight lines, its about wonky lines and a thing called a curve(look it up, your buildings are missing it).

I can assure you there is no soul in those flat buildings you produce

Stick to something like Infinity where it suits the game.

Cool! Our local FOW group has been saying how we are lacking enough 15mm terrain to populate multiple game boards for FOW. A new source is always welcome.

YMMV. Personally, I like the look of a well designed laser-cut building. I have several of the 4Ground offerings and think they look great. My only complaint with 4Ground is their fairly limited line of 15mm buidlings suitable for WWII Europe. I think if laser cut has any flaw, its that it does not blend well with resin or plastic buildings.

YMMV, again. Some of us (like me!) don't have enough time to keep up with painting our miniatures, let alone buidlings and terrain. I'd rather spend the money on pre-painted buildings and save my time to build and paint figures and vehicles.

So, given what darkness screamer stated, you do not have about 25 customers in England. I hope your business model can survive that kind of anecdotal apocalypse.

Some things I would suggest.

Of all the lasercut terrain out there, the stuff that looks best has detail depth. It is difficult to tell from this photo and my current access doesn't like KS, but things like window shutters, church stonework, door recesses...if you can add that, it does give a bit more pop to the piece. That seems to be true from the prepaint to bare.

Also, there seems to be a saturation of western Europe providers out there. Look to different theaters of operation. I think North Africa structures would lend themselves to lasercut terrain, and I don't think there are many of suppliers out there in that market. Italy is another one that seems under served. The tile roof would be difficult to pull off purely by laser, I would think, but I don't know just how far they have advanced, it may be possible.

Thanks all for your comments.
And if you want to look closer into our offerings, you can find them on our website:
http://frontarc.com/
Or our FB page:

Let me answer some of your statements.
We too hate plain laser-cut terrain. That's why we try to make a maximum out of it by pre-paint and professional architectural textures, that let us to achieve very detailed buildings. (Take a look at the details on our website)
Yes, they will not have round pilars or round balconies, but not all buildings had that...
And we think that pre-paint can't be bad. It is nice if you want to play instantly without spending 20 hours for painting. And it is a good base for adding more colours, details, freehand, weathering or just a repaint.

Yes, I know, that central Europe is most popular between terrain manufacturers, but it's also most popular between players. And we'll definately expand our range into different regions if we succeed in our Kickstarter.
Just we wanted to make as wide range of products for 1 theater as possible. We think other manufacturers are not doing their best, when releasing 5 buildings for Western Europe, 3 for Eastern Europe and 3 for Africa. 11 products for 1 theater would be better as it let's to complete the table without repetetive terrain and in continuous style...

Just a reminder, that our campaign just stepped into the last week on Kickstarter.
