Via K'vor on ATT.

Yes, there is a future for Farsight Enclaves. The new book is out Q1 2016.

Apparently in the same topic being discussed there was mention of FSE cards. All this is happening in the FSE thread on ATT. The source for all of this wishes to remain anonymous. K'vor was the one to rumor the Breachers before anyone else and was correct. His source wishes to remain anonymous.

Let's get back into the rumour mill. Should we expect a book release alone or any more minis? Farsight made an online exclusive so no prospect of his model being recast again. Suppose anything new would have been covered in the codex.

K'vor's source had nothing to say other than Q1 and that FSE was coming. Presumably in the Mont'ka book. So speculations can run rampant at this point. Ha.

The problem that I see with him is that you can't use him at all with the decurion style hunter contingent. Like Darkstrider, he doesn't fit anywhere in there which sucks (on top of GW not giving him better rules like finally an eternal warrior in the Tau army). While I don't hold out any hope of them changing his actual stats, I do hope they introduce a worthwhile detachment to use him with. The same applies to Forgeworld and their products. I've got around 500pts of stuff that doesn't fit anywhere in the detachment yet can't make a CAD either.

If they are making a FSE book, there will undoubtedly be FSE formations and dets. Minimum I'm seeing as much as the IG Stormtrooper supplement.

Note that Militarum Tempestus is a full-fledged (if somewhat limited) codex, not a supplement.

Yup Tempestus is one of my fav armies, If they did a farsight thing with no new models, I'd imagine itd just be suits as that seems to have always been the main force of the enclaves

As to what we can expect, I'd imagine maybe one new kit for tau at most two but i wouldnt bank on anything new tbh, In all the other campaign books another faction enters the fray with the second book, Personally Im hoping for tyranids or orks =D

I would not be surprised TBH is the rerelease Farsite. but as an upgrade kit to the current tau commander. I would not be surprised if they went back to that.

So, which imperial codex will it be released with? Astra Militarum? The yearly Knight Codex?

If it's a campaign, I imagine there will be a codex drop to go with it. Sort of like how we got the white scars and Raven guard supplements out of Kauyon and the Tau release.

Skarbrand ot a plastic kit that was separate from just an uprade to the Bloodthirster. I could see a Farsight model in plastic, and a few other minor things- plastic upgrade sprue for Farsight fire warriors/breachers and crisis suits, maybe sniper drones in plastic. If it continues with the WS and RG from Kauyon, they could come out with upgrade sprues for them as well.

Likely: Marines of some sort.

Good Chance: Astra Militarum, but they seem to need a massive overhaul like the CSM rumors saying it will be an overhauled codex. Then again maybe GW think they don't so they'll give them the Kauyon treatment.

Sisters: No chance in hell.

Ad Mech: Nope they're going to be in their own FW book with Tau according to some old fairly reliable rumors.

I personally hope we see more unique stuff for the FSE. A remodeled and ruled Farsight I would pick up as soon as I'm done my current load of models. Any unique FSE stuff like melee suits or some cool new updated units or alternates of units would be appreciated.

I feel FSE could get a few mini's to go along with it.

I would love to see models come out to accompany and those suggestions make sense but after GW stated you could get either the codex or the campaign book, could they realistically then come out with new models invalidating both?

You generally use the newer stats in that case. Firebase was out before the new dex but now you need to use its new rules in the codex.

Yeah I get you but that was a model outdated by a codex not the codex outdated by the model.

Is there any precedent for that?

Closest I can think of would be the Nids plastic Zoanthropes last year. Leviathan added the Neurothrope upgrade and increased the squad limit from 3 to 6.

I feel like Farsight could even be represented by an upgrade sprue for use with the new Commander model.

Could be, but probably won't. Even after they released the commander suit, they had resin FS build on a modified XV-8. All the artwork even makes it specifically a modified XV-8. Plus with the whole immortal/Dread Pirate Roberts thing going on, he has to have an older make of suit.

I agree... and freakin' eternal warrior, dammit! If anyone deserves it in the Tau codex, it's the guy who is sucking the lifeforce out of everyone he slays in close combat to unwittingly extend his own!

What would be cool is to make him actually able to drain wounds in the game. Maybe roll a d6 for each wound made in CC and on a 4+ he regains a wound up to his maximum.

It's not a Dread Pirate Roberts thing, nor is it an immortal thing. There is only one Farsight. Every time he kills an enemy with the Dawn Blade, a portion of that enemy's "life force" is transferred to Farsight, extending his lifespan. Reading the source material, he has no idea why he is so long lived, and should he learn why, he is likely to commit ritual suicide in shame.

But as to the actual suit... yes, it's a modified XV8. I don't see any real fluff reason why they couldn't upgrade the suit. The Farsight Enclaves are being supplied with new equipment on the down low by sympathetic loyalists. Here you go...

"Earth Caste Engineer Jonn'I Brav'O has a secret respect for Farsight after his third cousin, twice removed was given a Honour Shas'Vre position and appointed to Farsight's Bodyguard unit. After one too many negative performance reviews from his units efficiency experts, Bob'O and Bob'O, he steals a freighter loaded with XV8 Enforcer and Coldstar suits and redirects it towards Farsight's Enclaves. During the long, sub light journey, Brav'O converts one of the Enforcer Suits to be a gift to his idol."

Clean it up, add a dose of Grimdark and a mid flight warp incursion and you have a nice little blurb explaining Farsight's new look in a small box in the corner of one of rules pages.

Hmmm... I'd argue that he's already used up his natural lifespan and would just die. The sword supposedly takes the targets remaining natural lifespan and adds it to the wielder's. If you kill a guy who was gonna die tomorrow, you only get an extra 24 hours. Pretty sure he'd use his ritual Bonding Knife anyways.

The thing I like most about Farsight is that his honor and sense of obligation/duty to the Empire keep him fighting, and therefore, living forever. If he ever actually retired or took a non-combat oriented command role, he'd just grow old and die like any other Tau.

But, back to rumors... doesn't the Kauyon book make reference to an upcoming Mont'ka book? I would expect the Mont'ka book will replace the Farsight Enclaves Supplement in terms of rules, if not story. Given his background, I would also expect the Mont'ka book to focus on Orks or Daemons. He got his sword during a warp incursion and has a history of fighting Orks to the point that he gets Preferred Enemy (Orks).

They could do a Enclave versus Tau seems likely at some point.............

They might well do loads of cool new fluff stuff for the Sisters in the book and then not bother with the rules - see Shield of Baal..........

So is it a def a Chaos blade or Necron blade as either could be looking to get it back............

The next part of the Damocles story is the Crusade incoming to bowl over the Tau Empire, and how Farsight is destined to stop the Imperials from killing off the Tau.

And probably smack Shadowsun down a bit, since everytime she wins she gets punked right afterwards.

LOL, I don't think ritual suicide is done frequently with a weapon larger than you.

If that weren't the case, the leading cause of death by suicide would be artillery. Since they're going with the whole Japanese theme for Tau and Farsight's honorable samurai schtick, he'd likely do it with his honor blade.

Yeah...I really hope this doesn't happen again. It probably will but it is becoming incredibly tiresome to read about how the moment Shadowsun achieves something she must follow it up by almost dying or humiliating herself. Most Special Characters in Warhammer 40k have wiped out/conquered several planets. Shadowsun does two, loses badly right after one, and now looks set to be killed in some big counter-crusade, right after they lose Aun'Shi too. Ugh. And she's like one of only a few female characters alive in the universe who commands system-spanning armies and the only female to ever have killed a Chapter Master. I seriously just don't like the need to make her worse than Farsight or make all her victories ambiguous rather than simply saying 'hey, you know what, she's good at her job'. But my whining won't change anything.

It'll probably be just Tau versus Imperium with the Enclaves being the big new thing.

And her killing a Chapter Master was just dumb, considering the Chapter Master in question.

The whole thing with Shadowsun is she's still prideful, just like she was when her and Farsight were being taught by Puretide.
