To be honest, quickly. Time is not something on my side as I'll be playing only at my local GW shop (because of how close it is to where I live and how far away the closest FLGS is around here).

I can't be available during the week until about 5:30pm, and the store closes at 7pm Tues - Thu and 8pm on Friday. Saturday is a day that I could play longer games if I could find someone to play against.

But, it'll either have to be something like 40K in an Hour, Turn Limits, Kill Team, or just a quick army.

I would go for:

2 x Stormsurges
1 x Commander

Then you can do a Hunter Contingent with the models you have. You can run games roughly between 1500-1850 points depending on unit configuration.

Core - Hunter Cadre
HQ
1x XV8 Commander

Elites
1x 3man stealths

Troops
2x 5man Strike Team
2x 5 man Breacher Team

Fast attack
1x TX Pirhana
1x 9man PF

Heavy support
2x StormSurges
1x Hammerhead

Auxiliary - Drone Network
1x 4Marker drones

1x 4Marker drones

A commander is a must, but 2 stormsurges?! No. Stormsurge is not for a beginner, he will not have fun with it, all supers are for after you got yourself a decent army and you want a big centerpiece.

You'll probably want some crisis suits. Their build flexibility is awesome and they rarely don't fit an army.

The problem is, many units in the tau army are designed with a fighting style in mind, and not all go for the same style. After you choose your desired style it will be easier to recommend units to assist that style.

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.

I do not know the Op's experience level but I was considering his wish of a fast and quick game thus my recommendation for only a few models. His current army lacks heavy hitting and with only 3 more units he will get a full fledged army with some good punch to it. And those are 3 powerful, good looking and in my opinion fun models. Any model can be "diffcult" to master if you do not know the rules but that should not mean one should not get them and start learning as fast as possible.
