Hey dakka, I am starting up Fantasy with a few friends and would like some help writing a list. I don't own the army book and since they aren't sold anymore I am going by battlescribe and the interwebz.

From what I can tell I would like to field a shooty/fast hitting army.

I came up with this and would like some feedback on what is bad/good and what to improve on and why it would help etc etc.

Spellweaver (Lore of Beasts?)
level 2, longbow

Dryads
11 + Nymph

Eternal Guard
10 (full command)

Deepwood Scouts
6, hagbane

Deepwood Scouts
6, hagbane

Wild Riders
full command

Waywatchers

854/1000

Now I am not sure what else to fit into this list. I could add some Sisters or a block of archers for some more shooting.

As I say I am pretty much completely new so I don't really know what I am doing and any CC will be appreciated.

Eternal Guard can't really be run in such a small unit. While Eternal Guard are actually rather elite where core units are concerned, however their real advantage is their special rule Stubborn. There are only 3 units in our army that can take a charge and hold it there unit your Wild Riders hit them in the flank like a cannon ball; Treemen due to Stubborn, an expensive block of 6 Treekin and Eternal Guard. As such, you need to have enough models left to actually make the Stubborn test.

So, without overly changing the models you want to include (If you wouldn't mind other army lists, I'd produce other options, but i tried to not change much here) this is the list I would have,

Spellsinger, level 2, Beasts.

Glade Captain. Hail of Doom Arrows. GW. Glittering curiass

17 Eternal Guard, full command.

12 Dryads (entirely meta dependent, these guys will suck vs combat capable armies like WoC but will be a god send vs the likes of Orcs, other Elves and Men)

2x5 Scouts with Hagbane

Wild Riders. Muscian.

Waywatchers.

998/1000pts.

The idea being the Eternal Guard are your combat block that hold the enemy in place until Wild Riders or Dryads hit the flank or a Beasts Buff goes off. The Glade Captain gives some reliable combat rez (hitting on 3's, wounding on 6's at I6) and Ld 9 stubborn. Your shooting is enough to handle an some elite units such as Knights thanks to Waywatchers picking off models. Save your Hail of Doom arrows to either delete an annoying unit of chaff or to deal considerable damage to the enemy block. Look good to you?

**Edit** Eternal Guard rank up 3x6 with the Glade Captain in the unit.

Thanks for the reply, I do actually quite like that list although i couldn't find the glittering curiass anywhere, battle scribe doesn't seem to add everything from the WE AB which is strange.

I tweaked the list a wee bit though so how does this look?

Spellsinger, level 2, beasts

Glade Captain, GW, HoDA, Helm of the hunt

11 dryads
14 Eternal Guard, full command, shields, banner of swiftness

5 Scouts with hagbane
5 Scouts with hagbane

Wild Riders with full command

5 Way Watchers

This list and the list you posted do have quite a nice balance between ranged and a hammer and anvil units.

I did think about mounting the captain or spell singer and putting them with the Wild Riders and adding a few more bodies to the unit for a more deadly charge? although im not sure what i would change or how i would do it

The glittering cuirass is light armour that provides -1 to hit, basically meaning the enemy won't bother to direct grunt attacks at him. Depending need to make him tough, just tough enough to convince then enemy to attacker's guard instead.

I would advocate against a wild rider champion, it makes it impossible to assassinate mages as.he can just challenge and fight 1 wild rider instead of 3.

Actually called Glitering Scales, but let's not quibble!
It would also be worth adding that putting a glade captain adds pretty much nothing to Wild Riders - On the charge you'd be paying 49 points for +1WS and a couple of extra wounds. Running 7 wide would be more worth while, to maximise punch against enemy units.

Apologies, I have ninth age on the brain and over there they've changed scales to cruises for copy write reasons. If you have a group of friends willing to play fantasy give ninth age a look see, they are always looking for the opinions of people new to warhammer as they want the community to not just appeal to veterans

Ah so that explains why I couldnt find it.

Well here is a revised list as the HoDA and Glittering scales totals to 55 points instead of 50

Spellsinger level 2 Beasts

Glade Captain, HoDA, Helm of the Hunt, Great weapon

13 Dryads
14 Eternal Guard, full command, shields

2x5 Scouts with Hagbane

5 Wild Riders, musician and standard bearers

5 Waywatchers

1000 points exactly too

Looks good. Should be able to shoot what It can't hammer and anvil and hammer and anvil what it can't shoot.
