Not looking to win big events, but don't want to get roflstomped. Thoughts?

Most events that I'm aware of are 1850, unless you go to some local homebrew tournament. I would take out the ironstrider formation because it doesn't add to the war convocation or benefit from canticles of the omnissa.

Not really for events so much as local games. 2k isn't that uncommon here.

I would rework it a bit to squeeze it down to 1850, which would require cutting the Cavaliers.

Drop the formation, add a Culexus Assassin for anti-psyker. I would swap the Phosphoenix for the Pater Radium on the Vanguard. My personal preference would be to keep the Ruststalkers at 5 and put the extra bodies into the Infiltrators as they do more work in my lists. Infiltrators would benefit from the Skull as they can get closer to the enemy and the Rangers are good with the Arkhan's relic. I would also go with the Dragoons over the Ballistarii. Again, I just find they do more work in my lists.

Even then these are all very minor changes and, from my perspective just things of personal preference and what I have found to work in my games. If nothing else, I would go with the Culexus. You need anti-psyker.

Ooooh. I like that! I hadn't even thought of running an assassin. The new models are stunning, too, so that is a perk. The best part about this army is that the wargear can shift without needing to rework things, so I will try out the other options you put in.

I like the idea of the Ballistarii, since those Lascannons give me some anti-armor options and the upgrade is free. Are the Dragoons that much stronger?

I just find they end up doing more work. 4 S8 I6 attacks on the charge each will wreck most things you come across. I find that those 4 attacks outweigh a single lascannon shot almost every time.

I will give that a go then. Seems prudent to at least try. I will tweak my list and repost it later.

Anyone have any more ideas/suggestions/tweaks?
