Tactics; Commander stays in the backfield with the drone squad, taking potshots with missile pods and letting marker drones do their thing. He stays in front of them most of the time, tanking hits with his 2+ armor and using LOS for anything big the enemy throws his way. Pathfinders camp in cover and use their markerlights to support the Stormsurge. Stormsurge anchors immediately and starts laying down the pain, only moving if something really needs to be stomped on or to claim a late objective. Ghostkeel is the main AA platform of the army. Strike Team stays in the rear preferably on an objective with the Fireblade. Kroot should infiltrate forward and use their sniper rounds to take out MC's. The Piranha will use its Fast Skimmer status to get into position and launch both Seekers on the first turn, after which it will mainly be a harassment unit until it inevitably dies. Stealth teams will support the Ghostkeel mainly to take full advantage of its Wall of Mirrors. The two Crisis units will deep strike, the Fusion one will go and hopefully bag a tank, the others will set their sights on some MEQ/TEQ and blast them. The purpose of the lone Gun Drone with the Fusion suit is for Deep Strike placement shenanigans. The Drone is the initial model, then the suit can set up closer to the enemy and hopefully have a better chance of getting in melta range.
My questions are the following:
1: Do I have enough Markerlight support? I have 2 main marker units (Pathfinders and Mark'O) and three additional Markerlights in splitfire-capable units (Fireblade and Stealth Shas'vres). Not sure if that is enough, given that the Stormsurge needs a lot of them for its weapons.
2: What options should I really take on my Crisis units? I only took Target Locks as a placeholder; on the plasma ones I was considering VRTs; on the fusion one I was considering making one Fusion a TL version for better chance of a hit. Would that be better?
3: Should I take a 4-man Pathfinder team with 3 Rail Rifles instead of the Piranha (I would also have to drop some other stuff to make the points)?
4: Is it worth sacrificing the ability to take a Sky Ray in order to have the benefits of a Hunter Contingent? I have a Hammerhead/Skyray model, but I really want to run the Contingent as the benefits seem really good.
5: What additional models should I look into in the future to improve this list? More Crisis suits? A Riptide? Broadsides? Any suggestions in this area welcome, I'm intending to use my tax return for Tau stuff when I get it.
