Holy Terra.

So, I finally decided to post my method of painting Skaven. If you guys want, I'll post photos.

WARNING:THESE MODELS WILL LOOK AWEFUL UP CLOSE, ON THE TABLE THEY LOOK AWESOME!

DO NOT UNDERCOAT THE MODELS! THEY NEED TO BE GREY PLASTIC FOR HIS TO WORK.

Step 1: If painting a unit, place the unit in a bowl. Next mix up a wash of 2 parts Water and 1 part paint. If you are doing a Pestilens themed unit, use brown or dark green. If not, black is fine. Choose random models and paint the mix on. About half the unit should be done like this, leave the rest bare.

Step 2: Choose a colour for the robes. I use green, but red or brown works fine. Using an old, soft brush, drybrush the colour heavly onto the robes, leaving the grey plastic in the recesses

Step 3: Now do the same thing on the skin with a dark brown. This will be the base for the fur. If you want a more Human-looking rat, use a lighter brown (xv88 work well).
Use the dark brown to lightly drybrush the robes. This will act as a highlight and make the robes apear dirty.

Step 4: Drybrush the fur/skin with a light tan or flesh colour. I use Ushabti Bone or Kislev Flesh. Do this on the face and tail as well.

Step 5: Use silver or bronze to drybrush the weapons and armour. Use brown to drybrush the handles and grips.

Step 5: Paint a red dot in the eyes. Let it sit for a few seconds, then dab it off with your finger. This will splash it on the sides and make the eye glow, but leave the stronger red in the middle.

Base your model.

Done.

Somewhere in the steamy jungles of the south...

...You do realize that the paint will just rub off of all the raised areas really quickly, right? There's a reason for priming.

Holy Terra.

I've had mine for a while and no paint is gone. I barely prime anything, but I do use Matt spray if there are decals.
