Hi people. So I'm starting an escalation league with my club. I would have liked to have your opinions on this starting list:

Khorne Bloodbound
-->Goreblade warband

Mighty Lord of Khorne

Bloodsecrator

Bloodstoker

Blood warriors x5

Blood reavers x20 : full command

Khorgorath

Warriors of Chaos

Chaos Warhound x20

Daemons of Chaos

Bloodcrushers of Khorne x6: full command

Total: 98 wounds.

So, what's your opinion on it ?

Warhounds are very bad in terms of effectiveness per wound, bloodreavers are better but also not great for their wounds count. Not sure of the requirements/benefits of goreblade warband though. This list looks to be going for a khorne theme, in which case you definitely want to fit in at least one skull cannon, ideally two. Also, those last two wounds could buy another blood warrior or two more bloodreavers. For more general advice, special characters are powerful in wounds count since they tend to have the same amount as a generic version while being more powerful (sometimes much more).

Road to Renown! It's like classic Path to Glory, but repaired, remastered, expanded! https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/778170.page

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

What are the rules for your escalation? Are you basing it on wounds?

We're basing it on wounds and limiting it to one monster per 100 wounds. We start at 100 wounds and then 125, 150 and 200.

Anytime you balance around wounds, there are some units that are more efficient and other units that are less efficient. An easy way to check would be to divide point values by wounds to see how many points per wound a figure costs.

If you like Khorne, your most powerful monster figures would be Archaon or Skarbrand.

Inefficient troops in your list: Khorgorath (I really like the figure, but they don't do well for the wounds/monster slot),
Blood Reavers (1 wound, no armor; I love the figures, but they are more competitive in a points system.)
Chaos Warhounds (fast, but no armored, etc.)

Formation: The Goreblade Warband is a good formation. But I would recommend the Bloodmarked Warband from the Everchosen book. It requires 1 Khorne hero and 8 other mortal khorne units (could be heroes or units)... this gives you the flexibility to pick the units you like, assuming you have at least 9 mortal khorne units in your army... bonuses are comparable.

Karanak is very efficient, can summon a unit of flesh hounds, and doesn't take a monster slot.

Gaunt Summoner of Tzeentch is very powerful if there is a realmgate on the table in your deployment zone.

Synergy Heroes: The following Khorne heroes give buffs, Aspiring Death Dealer (if general or with Archaon), Bloodsecrator, Bloodstoker, Skullgrinder, Chaos Warshrine.
