Anytime you balance around wounds, there are some units that are more efficient and other units that are less efficient. An easy way to check would be to divide point values by wounds to see how many points per wound a figure costs.
If you like Khorne, your most powerful monster figures would be Archaon or Skarbrand.
Inefficient troops in your list: Khorgorath (I really like the figure, but they don't do well for the wounds/monster slot),
Blood Reavers (1 wound, no armor; I love the figures, but they are more competitive in a points system.)
Chaos Warhounds (fast, but no armored, etc.)
Formation: The Goreblade Warband is a good formation. But I would recommend the Bloodmarked Warband from the Everchosen book. It requires 1 Khorne hero and 8 other mortal khorne units (could be heroes or units)... this gives you the flexibility to pick the units you like, assuming you have at least 9 mortal khorne units in your army... bonuses are comparable.
Karanak is very efficient, can summon a unit of flesh hounds, and doesn't take a monster slot.
Gaunt Summoner of Tzeentch is very powerful if there is a realmgate on the table in your deployment zone.
Synergy Heroes: The following Khorne heroes give buffs, Aspiring Death Dealer (if general or with Archaon), Bloodsecrator, Bloodstoker, Skullgrinder, Chaos Warshrine.
