Baron, don't forget to talk about the SEALs and Marines you habitually beat up on 2 and 3 at a time, as you PM'd me about.

Smooth it out with your sculpting tools and don't touch it.

Soooo awesome!

Sorry to be annoying but I've been thinking of starting a project like this for a long time (not that I'll have a prayer of reaching your standards of sculpting), but not really knowing where to start.

Are you using GW Green Stuff? I've seen a lot of people use homemade tools (using dowel and knitting needles/pins, among other things) to do scratchbuilds like this; is that what you're using? Also, did you use milliput or something of the like as a base?

Answers to any or all of the above would be greatly appreciated!

First off, I'm a moody recluse. SO everyones Annoying... However, Questions and comments are Always welcome.
GW, Army painter, and who ever elses "greenstuff" is just repackaged Kneadatite epoxy putty.
Greenstuff is mold-able, sand-able, drill-able, cut-able... I have a TON of tools both purchased((dental tools, Royal Sovereign "clay shapers", ect, ect..) and hand made to work with it. I can't stand Milliput, It's a texture thing. Besides plasticard tubes he's all GS.

Wonderful work here. Very impressive sculpting and great to see the stage by stage progress. Love how sharp all your edges are on the armoured & metal parts

Looking drop-dead gorgeous... as in drop-dead ugly.

Asking in blithe ignorance; how are the flat/round bits like shoulder guards or hydraulic tubes made? I would have assumed they would start as plasticard but yours are, well, green.

I roll out whole sheets, blocks, rods, Days ahead of time and use them like you would plasticard.. structural pieces will have wire or plastic-rod inside for rigidity.

He's looking meaner and meaner every time I check in on this thread. Truly epic sculpting, dude!

As for the perceived lack of replies to this thread, I'm with Ruglud: just keep posting and you'll see enthusiasm for your stuff go up exponentially.. (My own P&M blog is often morgue-like for months on end, no matter how many updates I post).

One question: what base is he on? It's starting to look a little small (as he gets beefier and beefier) and also a little lopsided (ie he's not in the middle of it any more). Would putting him on a bigger base be too much of a pain in the arse?

donĀ“t take the silence as a form for ignorance or loss of interest...this is more a case of the quietness that is forming due to awe...

your sculpting is simply stunning...and i use simply due to a lack of words
such crispness is seldom seen!

It should be pretty easy to swap out his base if he out grows it too much..

Killer!!!

"Orkses never lost a battle. If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!"

I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.

That is just plain incredible. I love its left arm in particular, really dynamic looking. Also, a lot of people look at the work and don't comment...it is the way of the internet.

Also, quick question. How do you attach the pieces as you put them on, as in, fasten them?

Active armies, still collecting and painting First and greatest love - Orks, Orks, and more Orks largest pile of shame, so many tanks unassembled most complete and painted beautiful models, couldn't resist the swarm will consume all
Armies in disrepair: nothing new since 5th edition oh how I want to revive, but mostly old fantasy demons and some glorious Soul Grinders in need of love
