Hi Chaps,

Wanting to buy the 2 player starter set for Hordes, mainly as I want something to paint, the models look awesome and the main use for them is for my D&D games that I DM for (there is a huge area that is a forest full of werewolfs and the Legion could easilly be the evil demons ravaging the lands). I can get the set for £60, so for 20 models it seems like a good price (considering bones are £2-£3 anyway).

Now, I will also give hordes a go, for sure and I know that new rules are coming soon as well so my questions are:

1) With the new rules, will there be a new 2 player starter set out? Will the models get updated? (or even in plastic and not resin?)
2) Are the units in the starter set actually evenly matched? If I did like the game, would I be able to say buy a new model for each team every now and again and keep the sides balanced? Even if I have them all painted for DnD, it would be nice to have a game of it on occasion.

Thanks Chaps,

Grady

If you are going to use them for DnD, then you definitely won't have a problem regardless.

1) So far there is nothing to indicate they're going to release a new 2-player box. That being said, it's a good chance they will since that seems to be a great jumping off point for people. It's debatable (since the new Battle Boxes have stuff like terrain, tokens, and a paper mat in them) if they will have a new one or not though.

2) The box as it is now is more or less balanced. Not super optimal choices, but that really isn't a problem. Truthfully though, we have no idea how those models are going to be in the new edition. I think more things will be viable, but every model is having it's rules redone, so I don't know how those two specific forces will be balanced in four months.

Might be worth waiting to see if they start getting discounted when the cards and rules are outdated.

I stand corrected: there will be new 2 players MK3 boxes coming out.
