Just brainstorming here (been out of 40k for several years), I like the tau commander model, riptide, crisis suits, ghostkeels, and broadside models. The stealth are okay models too. Would the tau or farsight codex, or formations (not sure how they work yet), like retaliation and stealth, can that work as an army/in games?

Far sight can take crisis suits as troops, and this can be a viciously powerful build. But fair warning, (I just came back from a few years break as well) this build (crisis troops with broadsides and riptide) is considered fairly overpowered in the current meta against lower teir armies, so you may want to be careful with who you play angainst, and dial it back (or up ) depending on the opposition.

The farsight bomb is not in vogue in the ITC actually. Too trail and not good at contesting objectives.

The go to list a lot of people play is a Tau CAD with Riptide Wing and Two Stormsurges then throw a dash of whatever else you want in with what's left over.

Yes.
You could use FSE and take any of these formations:
Firebase Support Cadre
Optimized Stealth Cadre
Ghostkeel Wing
Riptidewing

You wont have to deal with those pesky fire caste footies.

an amusing build is naked crisis suits with a PEN Chip Shas'vre. If you want to make it really unwieldy, add 20 Shield Drones.

In my last local tournament, an acquaintance of mine ran a Tau list with a Heavy Retribution Cadre, a Ghostkeel wing, and a Drone net. He did fairly well too!

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

Vespid... sniper drones... sunsharks and the other flyer. There can be very very bad armies indeed.

IDK, personally I rather like the other flier. If you upgrade the front burst cannon to a missile pod, both weapons have a 360 degree firing arc, which makes placement moot, and range the only consideration you need worry about.

Ere
That's what I was thinking! If you can get him to share his list, send it to me or post it here!

Yep, totally possible. But if you plan on Deep Striking some of them, I'd rather use at least Tetras for those love-y Homing Beacons.
