Hey all. Long time lurker here!

Decided to go to my second tournament here in November. Decided to go with Eldar as most of that is painted. Looking for some thoughts!

CAD
Autarch: Banshee Mask, Fusion Gun, Chainsword, Warp Jump Generator-98
Farseer: Jetbike, Singing Spear, Stones-135

2 groups of 3x Windriders with Scatter Lasers-162

Wraithknight: Sword w/ghostglaive and 2x scatter lasers-325

CAD
Autarch: Banshee Mask, Fusion Gun, Chainsword, Swooping Hawk Wings-103

2 groups of 3x Windriders w/ Scatter Lasers-162

Wraithknight: 2x Heavy Wraithcannon, 2x Scatter Lasers-325

Aspect Host: +1 BS -340
Swooping hawks, 4x with Exarch
Warp Spiders 4x with Exarch w/Death Spinner and Powerblades
Warp Spiders 4x with Exarch w/Death Spinner and Powerblades

Total:1650

I've been running other options with taking out a exarch and one of the wraithknights to include Night Spinners or a Crimson Hunter, but it always leaves me with a few points left over. I don't really like the idea of using 2 wraithknights as to me it feels cheesy, haha.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

I thought that in the ITC format you were limited to a single Gargantuan/Super-Heavy Lord of War?

At this event it has some other rules for army lists. It says,

Players are limited to either of the following:
1 imperial knight formation
Or
Spending no more than 700 points on Lord(s) of War.

The parentheses made me think I could field 2.

I found the limit of gargantuan creatures in the ITC rules and will send in my question to the tournament. Makes me think that the tournament is only using the ITC for the FAQ stuff.

I'd drop both powerblades, take a 5th swooping hawk in order to get 6 hawks, and then give the exarch the sunrifle. Leaves you 9 points (or 24 if you forgo the sunrifle)

If I drop the powerblades and add another swooping hawk and add a sunrifle and have 9 points leftover, would I benefit from dropping the two scorpion chainswords for 6 points and then add another swooping hawk? It would bring the count up to 6 Hawks + an Exarch.

You definitely want 6x Hawks as the blast template becomes a "large" blast. It helps a lot when measuring scatter if your dice are anything like mine.

I like an autarch running solo on a jetbike with a banshee mask and laser lance. Lots of Str 6 ap 3 attacks with no overwatch ins backfield unit. He usually gets ignored if you have good terrain to hide him and don't make him your warlord. 48" range of movement is so sweet.

If you do drop the WK I'd take another aspect host of all spiders and fold the two CADs. If not, maybe make one autarch a farseer on a bike.

Here is the next fun thing. If this new FAQ is finalized and the grenade thing doesn't change, will the swooping hawks be worth while? They were going to be my main anti air and armor. All the haywire. If they won't be worth it, do I need to worry about anti air? This could change a lot.

Yeah, it would.

1. Campaign to your TO that the grenade FAQ ruling is stupid and it's one of several bad rulings from the FAQ crew (like the Weapons Gets Hot! Q on that bottom page, which contradicts the BRB) that should be ignored (and hopefully scrubbed in Draft 2).

Both the ITC guys and my local TO (who was LVO's Top Tourney Official) have raised eyebrows on this one.

*If* stupidity reigns at your local level, then toss your Hawks (I will shelve mine ).

I believe the ITC guys are gonna put it to a vote.

Otherwise, do you own Fire Dragons? If Hawks get pants'd then Fire Ds will come back into their main for Eldar anti AV13+.

2. Like other posters stated, power blades on exarchs is not good. They're sissy STR3, so those blades won't do much.
3. x6 Hawks for the Big Blast, defnitiely

I unfortunately don't have any fire dragons. Never purchased them in my 14 years of off and on playing (never liked the look)!

Looks like I have some waiting to do and some searching for fire dragons.

Thanks for all the tips and help!

Don't wait on talking to your local group and TO. Get 'em on board now.

Hold off on the purchases until your get a ruling.

Also, proxying is generally accepted when GW releases FAQs.

The web comic on my link below started because of an FAQ where a rule got flipped over. Some people says it's funny.
