I have been toying with some different lists with the Angels of Death supplement, and am liking the feel of an Imperial Fists detachment. The extra buffs from the bolter drill should help my alpha strike, and definitely has some interesting possibilities as far as the auxiliary detachments.

In general, this army should hit like a ton of bricks turn one, with 4 drop pods and 2 assault squads deep striking to take out the opponents main threats. Rerolling misses with the sternguard ammo should really help against both hordes and more elite infantry, giving me some flexibility dropping in wherever needed. One weakness I do see is a lack of psychic defense. Would it be worth it to drop the dread to try and fit in a culexus assassin? My initial thought is without a drop pod it would be difficult to position the assassin properly, but I could definitely use some anti-psyker power.

Thoughts?

Yeah get a culexsus and infiltrate it close to where you will be dropping the pods.

I would say more grav... Drop plasma for grav guns, heavy bolters for more grav cannons. Combi-grav instead of combo-meltas. Split the grav and multi-melta for the sky hammer devs, so 2 melta and 2 grav cannon each.

And flamers for the assault squad.

Thanks for the feedback! Definitely think a culexus is worth adding.

Not sure I agreed on going all grav though. If I run into lower armor save armies, the grav won't be as useful, and it is pretty pricey to add to the dev squad.

I am open to dropping the plasma from the tac squads, but I do like having he added anti light tank at longer range than a melta gun. Maybe to save the pts to fit in the culexus I can swap them for meltas.
