Working on the Wood Elf ones. It's another one of those cases where nobody had a clue before they could read WDW. I notice a pattern.

Which is why I was pushing for a 30-day cutoff to count a rumor as true. Real rumor mongers used to have info far earlier and the new ones almost never do.

Two years ago on pg. 2 of this thread I posted a very skeptical post about this thread and it's purpose. But ever since that I have found myself coming back and checking it quite often when a new rumor popped up, so I would like to thank you Pretre (see, I spelled it correctly ) for the great work over the years and ask where I can sign the "sticky this thread" petition?

Two years? Geeze, I need to find a hobby.

Thanks for the vote of confidence though. We don't have a sticky petition thread and last I heard we were turned down because we get more traffic by not being sticky. Just have to keep bumping.

Couldn't think of a better place to put it.

I think it's that there are so many rumors just for the Thunderhawk that you can't lump it in with Forgeworld or Space Marines.

Not so much a packmaster, but the new Alter Kindred takes on the form of an animal/nature and becomes some form of monstrous beast/infantry, apparently. FALSE
The fluff being they give themselves over to the forest, and take on its aspects, sort of like miniature orions, rather than being a shapeshifter atypical druid. FALSE
Playtested versions have seen "proxied" varghulfs with extremely fast movement, so that may mean that they can take on an aerial aspect that gives them fly. FALSE
As for the monstrous cav, I am lead to believe that wild riders current iteration is still viable in the rules. FALSE
Chariots meanwhile, I have heard absolutely nothing about, other than suggestions of an altar type of unit acting like a mortis engine with its "spirit host", but that has been dismissed by my sources as pure wishlisting. FALSE

I'd also like to repeat my suggestion that things posted the same week as something comes out doesn't count as rumours. There's a guy over on Warseer that got hold of the WE army book and is answering people's questions. Surely counting that 1) isn't very meaningful, and 2) would lead to a whole lot of work collecting everything.

Sorry to be nitpicky here, but what if someone sees the codex several months out and owns up to it? Are they rumors, or not? What if someone gets one the week before, and says they're rumors?

If you practice a strict one-week limit, then it doesn't matter.

If you are checking to see whether someone tells the truth or not, it doesn't make any sense to assume that they are telling the truth about the source.

A strict seven day cutoff? Is that really the best solution? If someone gets a copy 8 days out, they get a couple trues, but at the stroke of midnight don't get anything at all? I'm just not sure that's the best way to go about it.

I think we have to play it by ear a little bit. If it is clear that everything has been released already (as with the WE), I stop giving credit.

That seems to be a wiser choice. Of course if someone is reading from a book or magazine, is it really a rumor? They're really just parroting information early.

But they're parroting information to us early so that we have access to something we wouldn't normally.
