You guys asked for it, and here it is.
Due to overwhelming demand, we've brought back the Space Marine compilation Index Astartes: Apocrypha.
Containing classic Space Marine background articles dating back up to 30 years, this tome of content is a great read for anyone intersted in the history of the Warhammer 40,000 setting.

The link they provide however 404s/doesn;t actually work.

... so looks like it will be returning, presumably soonish as well so one can at least avoid the somewhat inflated prices on e-bay and the like.

BL do sell a digital version of course

That's good to hear, as I do want a dead tree copy of this one, the stuff in this one is actually quite neat.

For some reason my browser took me to GW NZ and it was there, for $65.

When I switched over to the USA site - nope, not there.

Soon, hopefully!

I knew I should've sold my copy two weeks ago, when I was done with it. Once again, GW screws people out profit making while not rereleasing other "limited edition" products.
Freaking beaches.

I won't lose any sleep over people who bought the book, looking to scalp it for profit.

However; at this point it's starting to look a bit pathetic with all the instances of GW products released in 'limited quantities', 'once they're gone they're gone' etc only to turn around and produce more the moment they feel like it. It's alwo pretty crappy for anyone buying stuff (that they thought they couldn't get anymore) from scalpers for overprices only to see the thing they wanted be released again.

If you're not prepared to have something be a limited release, don't fething say it is all the time!

GW, the boy who cried limited edition...

I luckily stumbled upon a copy at my local GW a week ago. It's a great book for old fluff, I'm happy I picked it up. Glad they're printing more for those who want it.

If you're a fan of the older fluff and articles, yes! It's a re-run of their older stuff, with no editing, just the odd little footnote here and there to name the source, or poke fun at the stuff from back in the day.

It's a bunch of articles from the old WDs. There is no new information.

Is it only old WD articles, or is it from other book sources too?

It is, but well, at least to me, it's the good stuff, mostly Rogue Trader era articles delving into the really, really early fluff and crunch of the game.

It's not just WD.

It draws from a number of sources although early WDs are allot of it. There's also RT stuff amoungst others.

I got it and it was all stuff I've seen from back in the day but I'm happy with it. It's a nice book to thumb through after all these years.

Nice! I picked one of these up. It is a really great collection of Space Marines articles and old codex/rulebook stuff.

There is a neat piece in there about how they built the Land Raider too -- starting with a 2:1 scale model for the chassis and 3:1 with the weapons, then tracing it with a pantomime machine (for the game version), making negatives, etc.

There is even a picture of the big scale model beside a regular land raider

I quite like it. You get the original late 80s Index Astartes articles on the Ultramarines, Mentor Legion and Legion of the Damned (including all the non-canon stuff and the 1st edition stats and rules), Bill King's Siege of the Imperial Palace and Emperor vs Horus short stories, plenty of old artwork (Adrian Smith's Emperor vs Horus, and lots of old paintings that went on to be game and box set covers, in much better resolution than I've ever managed to find them online), I've got a lot of the material already, but not all of it, and some of it's a bit dog-eared (and in the case of the Space Marine Painting Guide, covered in paint!

In a way, I think I'd like the digital edition, since then I could take screenshots of the art pieces to use as wallpapers.

The one thing I'd say about the digital version, it looks like a poor scan in some places, you can see some of the previous pages through others.

Hopefully, the print edition isnt like that.

Apple includes an iBook reader with Mac OS but I don't think there's a Windows version. There are many readers for the two major "ebook" formats on all platforms though.
