Hello people!

I wanted to share an idea, well more than JUST an idea, that is in test/protype process. As the title says, it is about playing wargames with few miniatures, fantasy (could be modern/sci fi) skirmish games but in the floor/garden/yard/park.. in any "outside, with fresh air" place, however of course could be a garage, some big room, an edification with no use (like abandoned house or whatever) using the objects of common life as scenery: like bricks to make walls, real bush, foliage, small plants, or even a dog house!

ANd with that: "big miniatures/models" , "wargaming gnomes" ..

What caused me have this idea, was looking normal garden gnomes in daily life, watching not only humanoid, but also creatures (like rabits, deer, chicken , etc) plus the idea of wargaming outside a room, and beyond the table really inspired me.

First thing i did was google! i only could find some -in the rol of a SET of models, "angry gnomes" whose are made in the gnomy style, with modern weapons:

Spoiler:

Apart from that, i found one or another gnome with a "combative design", but not sets nor nothing.

So, i decided i could try printing the 3D models i am sculpting to make normal fantasy miniatures (in 1/72 scale, and 28mm ) in 1/7 scale, which is 25mm tall models. So i choose the first one, a modular (2 weapons, 2 heads, and separated shield) "miniature" so with only this prototype i can make several combinations.. once i send it to mould and make firsts "production prototypes".

The 3D model is this:

With who there are various assembling options:

And the print is this:

Here is a picture with the "viking" hidding behind a tree, or next to a box as cover:

I would like to hear your thoughts about this, they could serve 2 purposes: guarding/ornamenting the garden, and when required, beign summoned to battle!

I see potential but I think you'd want something a bit more iconic than a historically accurate viking. A knight or fantasy viking (ie horns) might be more popular.

Big Miniature Games. I like it. See Fairy Meat.

Yes i know what you mean; i am making the models with the style of menhir games: a LOW fantasy line, non heroic and inspired by history, with of course mythologycal/fantasy creatures.

Here is an example of warband (with the models made so far), i have still to armoured war bears and "mounstrous" infantry unit:

I explain this becuase as we know horns on viking is quite.. ICONIC, yes, but useless and non acurate, and while i am mixing historical-fantasy thematics, i dont want to go throught the classy bit that, at some points becomes des-informative/missleading (like causing people really believeing that vikings helmets had hornos )

In this link you will be able to see art, from where the models/miniatures are sculpted.. you (anyone) will notice that itis posible to do nice/intersting desings without going "hihg fantasy".

I will have sculpted that bear and more creatures (for other faction) soon!

Yeah another +1 for "Fairy Meat".

Oli: Can I be an orc?
Everyone: No.

I thin the viking is fine, he just needs to be painted in bright colors with heavy black lining where any two parts meet.

Hello! after months of doing other works, having the viking molded and reproduced a few prototypes, i can show you son nice pictures i took today!

I put a coin and a miniature( in separated pics) to show some size comparisson, the "gnomes" are 1/7 scale (1/72 scale x 10)

YEs! however i will do some kind of pool to see what genre people would prefer to play in this scale.

Medieval fantasy skirmishes? Sci fi encounters? zombies & survivors?
