My brother just got into the hobby and being a relatively new player myself, I'm not very much help. He chose Space Wolves and their codex looks somewhat foreign to me compared to what I'm used to seeing.

He bought the Venerable Dreadnought box with the intention of building it into Bjorn the Fellhanded being that Bjorn is pretty much the reason he's into Space Wolves.

We're trying to come up with a list that would incorporate Bjorn, Wulfen, and a Stormwolf with the goal of being able to play 500, 1000, 1250, and 1500 point games.

Much thanks in advance for any suggestions or tips!

Champions of Fenris detachment

Bjorn

Wulfen with DT of Stormwolf

Literally anything else you want. Champions of fenris and the new curse of the wulfen book offer a lot of new formations and detachments and goodies for the wolves. So he should probably look into that.

Wulfen are a great assault unit and bjorn is suitably shooty and capable in assault. His army will be very elite with the requirement of 3 expensive units in every list but he'll do fine if he plays smart and he'll be able to wipe up in assault. He will also not be able to take all 3 in 500 point games unfortunately because of their price. I would also reccomend some cheaper grey hunters or another troop choice to fill up the board because with such low models count it's easy for his opponent to shoot down his army because of little target saturation.

Really dirty playstyle experience by a buddy at a recent tournament.

Using the company of the great wolf detachment:

Pick an HQ -
Then add 4 squads of wulfen - typical setup:
··Wulfen [Great Frost Axe]
··Wulfen [Great Frost Axe]
··Wulfen [Thunder Hammer/Storm Shield]
··Wulfen [Thunder Hammer/Storm Shield]
··Wulfen Pack Leader [Dual Frost Claws, Stormfrag Auto-Launcher]

Then add 3 squads of Wolf Cav

Depending on your how you trickout your cavalry and if you want to provide bjorn with the FW drop pod that makes him useful and protects him turn 1, you have a crazy fast space wolves army that can charge turn 1, based on the wulfen' movement shenanigans. Granted, you'll have like 8 units on the table but you'll smash so much face that very little will be left of your opponents. I believe this list, going first is next to unstoppable.

For the HQ you can also use a Wolf Lord on Thunderwolf. He tears face like no one and can keep up with the Thunderwolf Cav.

Alternatively, if you just want hilarious speed, run two Servitors for the bare minimum Elites choice, then load up on a hilarious amount of thunder wolves. This will make your opponent's army flatter than a squirrel pizza on the highway.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.
