Hey all, I'm moving this week and I've come up against a difficult decision. During the move, I've had to go through all my miniatures and realized how much I have and how little I use them. The vast majority is unpainted, with me buying new stuff before even opening the previous kit. Now, I have several armies and need to whittle it down to 2. Here are my choices:

Crimson Fists: I have about 10 characters, 6 full Tactical Squads, 3 bike squads, 3 Assault Squads, 4 or 5 Devastated Squads, 2 Terminator Squads, 2 Sternguard Squads, 4 Drop Pods, 3 Land Raiders and 6-8 Rhino chassis vehicles. Almost all of the Marines have/ will have the sculpted shoulder pads.

space Wolves: Over 100 power armoured infantry, 20 Wolf Scouts, 6 Terminators, 3 Rhinos, a Land Raider, 6 Thunderwolf Cav, and 2 Drop Pods.

Orks: 100ish Boyz, 3 Manz, 10 Nobz, 15 Lootas, a Battlewagon, 5 or 6 Trukks, 12 Bikas, 20 Grotz, 2 Mek Gunz, 10 Flash Gitz, 12 Kommandos, 10 Burnas, a couple Looted Wagons, 4 Deaf Koptas, a Deff Dred and some other miscellaneous units.

Imperial Guard: A platoon command squad, 100 or so Guardsmen, a Valkyrie, 4 Leman Russ, a Chimera, 3 Sentinels, 10 Kasrkin, and 40 Steel Legion.

Blood Angels: A couple squads worth of troops and a couple of jump pack units, a Ball Predator too.

Chaos Space Marines: A couple of Lords, a Sorcerer, a Daemon Prince, 2 Obliterators, 3 Rhino chassis tanks, 50ish Chaos Marines, 30 Cultists, 40ish Traitor Guard.

So, which two should be kept and which need to go?

If I was in your position, I would keep my first army and for my second pick go with the play style I enjoyed most.
My 2 cents.

In all honesty, I would probably find a bigger moving box.

^ Second that. Keep the ones you like the best, or just figure out a way to keep them all!

Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.

Well, by the looks of it you have an entire Crimson Fists Company. In addition to that, they are Space Marines and so most likely to be shown love by GW in future updates, codices and releases. I'd also hazard a guess that as you went to that level of effort to expand them, they're a favoured army for you.

I'd say these guys would be the most temping to keep.

As for the others, I wouldn't know where to begin and will have to agree that you should keep them all

If you were going to get rid of one though... and I'm only going with one, I'd say Blood Angles as you already have marines and this is your smallest force.

It's not just the moving, it's having space for it all. Keeping it boxed up or in bins still feels wrong. Honestly, I've never played a game with most of my Orks. I haven't played my Space Wolves since 5th edition. I've played a few small points games with my Guard. Regardless of whether I decide to get rid of the plastic, I might keep my Steel Legion just because I love the models so much.

It isn't just the pain in the ass of moving them that's got me thinking. It's the fact that I have more and more stuff to paint and less time than ever to spend on the hobby. I feel like it would be better in the hands of someone who can put the time and care into it. If it's someone local and I can get games in against them using some or all of my former army then so much the better.

Think you just indicated what to do right there!

Keep the Crimson Fists (Largest and most effort gone into them) and Imperial Guard (Because you love the models)

Ditch the Orks (never played), Space Wolves (not played in a long time so likely disinterested in them).

As for the Blood Angels, you have the Fists so maybe get rid of them. And the Chaos force seems quite generic - as a Chaos player I'd say keep them but again if you like the IG more, then the answer is there ^^

Tbh for some of the larger more expensive models, just keep them and see if you can re-purpose them for an army you keep.

I would say keep orks, IG and either Crimson Fists and Chaos....

However given strictly two, I would say keep the Crimson Fists and Guard. Maybe keep the cultists and traitor guard (my mate simply uses normal guardsmen with a few traitors to represent non chaos fanatics in a rebellion). Also see if there are any units in the BA, SW and CSM armies you could repurpose into Crimson Fists.

Orks for fun, Crimson Fists for playing well. I also voted for CSM because I just like the options there even though they're bad on the table right now. They have the potential to be amazing in a glass half full world.

KEEP EVERYTHING.

I can't stress this enough. At one point I had the misfortune to move into an apt with bedbugs, and I threw out almost everything before moving to a new place. I kept only my fully painted minis, and chucked thousands of dollars worth of Eldar, Chaos, abd Battle Fleet Gothis stuff. I hadn't played in some time, and threw out a bunch of stuff that wasn't even opened yet.

Upon getting back into the hobby, I don't knowif I can express my regret about this. You never know which of those armies might really pique your interest for some reason in the future.

It's just a bit of space. I say again

KEEP EVERYTHING.

I say Crimson Fists and Orks (optionally Fists and IG). That gives you two fun armies with wildly different play styles to keep you entertained.

1. Keep the Crimson Fists, as they are obviously your favorite, being the most varied and complete of the lot.

2. Sell both Space Wolves & Blood Angels, as they completely overlap your Fists, being Imperial Space Marines. Consider to steal the vehicles for conversion to Crimson Fist stuff...

3. Sell the Imperial Guard., as you already have plenty enough Imperials.

That leaves you with the choice of keeping Orks and Chaos Marines as your non-Imperial force.

4. Sell the Chaos Marines, as they overlap your other Space Marines.

5. Keep the Orks, which are more complete and a better opposing force for your Crimson Fists. Orks are also very characterful, great for casual games.

It would be acceptable to split the Imperial Guard, keeping a minimal IG Steel Legion (only!) force with 1 Chimera, 1 Sentinel, 1 Valk & 1 Leman Russ - it's always nice to have a few ordinary humans around as allies. The rest need to go on the block, tho.

Good luck!
