Subject: WarhammerTV How to use the Citadel Technical paints: Gemstone paints
I gotta say, I was excited to see these when they released, picked up a pot of the red and was very disappointed... it has the identical effect of the much cheaper Tamiya Clear range and at over 5usd a pot for GWs stuff I'll be sticking with Tamiya for these colors.
PPl who optimise their list as if they're heading to a tournament when in reality you're just gonna play a game for fun at your FLGS are bascially the Kanye West equivalent or 40K.

The effect is actually not identical. Having used both I can tell you that the Tamiya Clear is still just goopy and virtually un-thinnable junk.
The FW clear and the Gemstone paints are leagues better.
The Gemstone paints are closer to a gel medium which works far better over a small area as it seems to draw up a bit after application.
The FW Clear Airbrush paints and the Tamyia Goop work over larger areas far more effectively. That is only after you've added the appropriate bottle and a half of thinning agent to the Tamiya Goop.
I'd honestly never recommend the Gemstone paints be used for anything too large and if you're staining armor or large plates you're far better off using the FW Clears or the Goop(but only if you have the budget for the tanker truck of thinner you'll need).
