You're a bit of a potty mouth. You seriously need to take into account were you are posting your videos.

*Posts that contain profanity, insults, blatant attempts at baiting a flame war (trolling), racial slurs, etc. will be locked, edited or deleted.

His post doesn't contain profanity, the video does, and he clearly states that it contains profanity.

If you don't like it... don't watch his vids... its youtube, it doesn't have to be rated PG.

Seems your trying to take out your bad day on a great painter/ YouTuber.

Me having a bad day ? Troll much ? According to the rules it has to be PG. Read the Forum Rules. You do know a post with a Video is still considered a post right ?

It's a rule to the forum. The Mod already said something about it (That was posted by the mod after he posted the video). You don't need to be rude. It was a simple complaint that he is posting videos here with swearing and we have a younger audience that clicks on those videos.

This is why there's a "report" button, if you feel a post breaks the rules then report it rather than posting off-topic comments.

Personally I've only used the gloss "Nuln", it's ok, I don't love it, don't hate it. A satin wash would probably be more useful to me than a glossy one. You want weapons to be more shiny, but it's too easy to make them look wet rather than shiny.

I would like to know why the gloss is good for dwarf skin, sadly the video is a bit long for me. I watched about 30 mins, but as its a recording of a live stream it moves quite slowly.

Care to explain the gist or could you edit a video down with just the core of the content?

You're a fantastic painter btw!

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

@bottle
The gloss wash doesnt stick to the raised surfaces as much as the matt washes. In this case they tend to leave your base colour intact while flowing into the cracks and low points.

Great, thanks. Would you then have to dull down the gloss with Lahmian Medium to get rid of the shine? I work from white undercoat and though my Fyreslayers turned out nicely (they get a lot of compliments), they took me so long it puts me off adding to them. I would be interested in ways that can get me to the same results at a quicker pace.

Thanks for your response

Rather than repeating myself, there was a discussion over in P&M the other day about them...

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/694668.page

Basically I use matte varnish to get rid of the shine, it took me a couple of coats after a reasonably heavy application of Nuln Gloss.

I like it, but for me, it's not going to replace matte washes.

Thanks for this. I think in all honesty it won't be something I use. In Next Level's vid did he also dull down the gloss after using it?

We'll find out soon enough eh.

A glossy wash that settles into the recesses without overly staining the basecoat? That sounds nothing whatsoever like the inks GW used to sell but stopped for some inexplicable reason...

Revelatory indeed!

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

"Your society's broken, so who should we blame? Should we blame the rich, powerful people who caused it? No, lets blame the people with no power and no money and those immigrants who don't even have the vote. Yea, it must be their fething fault." - Iain M Banks
-----
"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

Yeah they're not remotely like the old inks. Maybe if you thinned the old inks with a lot of acrylic thinning medium you might get something close to the new gloss washes.

The gloss washes are like the matte washes but glossy and settle in the crevices more.

Long story short, it makes it glossy vs a matt finish.

To many unpainted models to count.
